Philips Celebrates Five Years of MSD and MSR Platinum Lamps at Prolight + Sound

Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands is celebrating five years of Platinum lamps. To commemorate the anniversary, Philips will be exhibiting the range at Prolight + Sound 2015 in Frankfurt.

The first innovative Platinum lamp, the MSD Platinum 5 R, was launched in 2010, the company says. Today, in 2015, Philips offers a broad range including the 2 R, 14 R, 15 R, 16 R, 17 RA and 20 R. Platinum lamps have been used at many major events, worldwide.

Platinum lamps were designed to cope with the demanding on-stage conditions in modern entertainment. LED walls are increasingly being integrated into stage lighting design, creating a sea of homogeneous light. A new generation of lamps with powerful beams is needed to cut through in these situations and provide additional accent lighting, the company says..

Philips has been working with leading fixture makers for years, jointly developing solutions for high performance fixtures in the entertainment market. The Philips Platinum range is one of the products of this close industry cooperation.

Product highlights of Philips Special Lighting at Prolight + Sound:
• MSD Platinum 14 R provides extreme brightness of 12,000 lumens at 280W with a color rendering of 80. The lamp is successfully designed-in in the X3-Coupe from Jolly and the PT 280B and PT 280 Hybrid from Elation.
• MSD Platinum 17 RA offers brightness with a light output of more than 20,000 lumens at 350W, plus cool white light (7,000K) and a high color rendering of 85 and designed for use in follow-spots or beam fixtures at any type of event. These lamps are now designed-in in the Platinum BX and Platinum SBX from Elation and the G10B and G10 Hybrid from Terbly.
• MSD Platinum 20 R offers a light output of more than 23,000 lumens at 470W, intense cool white light (8,000K) and a high color rendering of 80, making it the ultimate solution for follow-spots, profile and beam fixtures. New design-ins have been realized with Clay Paky (Supersharpy & Mythos), Elation (Platinum FLX), and Terbly (G12 Hybrid MKII).

Mariam Rachi, global product manager for Platinum Lamps, spoke about the Platinum range: "Philips Platinum lamps provide powerful, compact, and brilliant light. We have solutions for every type of event, whether the venue is a studio, stage, or club. Choosing Platinum is choosing a strong beam, combined with fast lamp replacement and long, reliable performance."

Philips will be exhibiting at Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt, Germany, April 15 - 18 2015, booth number 9.0.A44.
