RPG Introduces Quietstone to Enhance Stadium and Arena Acoustics

RGP Quietstone

To create permanent, aesthetically pleasing, sound absorptive treatments specifically for outdoor and indoor sports facilities, RPG Diffusor Systems, Inc. founder/CEO, Dr. Peter D'Antonio, announces the introduction of Quietstone, an acoustic treatment formed from recycled stone aggregate or glass, this new material provides an attractive, affordable, durable, and sound-absorbing alternative to traditional options.

"Stadiums and arenas pose unique speech intelligibility and noise control problems," D'Antonio says. "These expansive open-air or indoor venues are designed to provide optimal visibility. But even the highest quality public address systems have inherent limitations in their ability to insure clear voice transmission and reinforcement if the venue has inadequate acoustical treatment. In addition to sound reflections, extensive reverberation, and excessive crowd noise, daily exposure to harsh weather conditions and standard cleaning regimens coalesce into an abrasive environment which wears hard on traditional cloth wrapped sound absorptive panels."

Applicable to either outdoor or indoor use, stone aggregate Quietstone panels are particularly well suited for outdoor traffic barriers and to controlling transportation noise. An FR30 option is available which passes stringent European tunnel lining safety requirements which require high impact resistance, moisture and frost resistance and up to two hours exposure to 1150ÂșC.

"RPG is continually researching versatile solutions to historically challenging stadium and arena acoustic problems," D'Antonio concludes. "Recycled glass Quietstone Light panels consist of 97% glass bead core with optimum porosity to provide effective sound absorption. Light weight and adaptable to any paint color, they represent the optimal excessive noise reverberation solution for sports arenas, gymnasiums, swimming pools, nightclubs, and health care facilities."

Formed in 1983, RPG is committed to expanding the palette of acoustical treatments available to the design community, builders, and customers. Inducted into the TECnology Hall of Fame this year, RPG Diffuser Systems Inc is celebrating its 30th anniversary of developing acoustical treatments for educational, sports, theatrical and music performance, corporate, and residential environments.
