Lighting Artist Marilyn Lowey Announces The Dark Side of Her Broom Gallery ShowThe Dark Side of Her Broom is a narrative of personal loss and explores the relations between self, abstraction, and illusion. As the works envelop visitors in a choreography of moving light and shadows, the thousands of smaller optical devices addresses that which lies at the edge of our senses and knowledge. Marilyn Lowey uses illusion to illustrate the difference between "seeing" and "seeing as"- or the difference between seeing an object, and recognizing it as some specific thing. She investigates that idea creating a space designed to inspire and physically accommodate the exchange of ideas through dialogue and negotiation. The showing will be held at: LAAA/Gallery 825 825 La Cienega Blvd. Los Angeles, California 90069 September 12 - October 9, 2015 Opening reception: September 12, 6:00 - 9:00pm Lowey is a noted lighting designer and artist whose credits include many tours with Neil Diamond as well as Diana Ross and Stevie Wonder, Los Angeles Philharmonic's inaugural performance in Walt Disney Concert Hall, the opening ceremony for the World Cup Cricket Games in South Africa in 2002, the famed French nightclub Lido de Paris, and the 2008 visit to the US of Pope Benedict XVI.
