DAS Audio Installed at Charis Christian Center, Colorado SpringsColorado Springs-based Charis Christian Center has transformed its worship experience with a new DAS Audio EVENT Series installation. Originally built as a warehouse, the auditorium presented several acoustic challenges, including excessive slapback echo, uneven sound coverage, and significant stage bleed. To solve these issues, the church partnered with DAS Audio, Sound Productions, and integrator Luxe AVL to design a system tailored specifically to the room's unique architecture. The new deployment features a main left/right system consisting of 16 EVENT-28A dual 8" line array speakers; four EVENT-118A single 18" subwoofers in a flown center end-fire configuration; two EVENT-218A dual 18" ground subwoofers; and, for outfill, eight EVENT-26A compact dual 6" line array speakers. Using laser scanning technology, Luxe AVL created a virtual model of the space to optimize speaker placement and system performance. The result is dramatically improved intelligibility, tighter pattern control, reduced stage volume, and consistent coverage throughout the room, the company says. "Our worship team is incredible, but the sound just wasn't filling the room in a way that created the immersive experience we wanted," says Caleb Kanneberg, production manager at Charis Christian Center. "Now you can walk anywhere in the space, and the sound is clear, controlled, and impactful. It completely changed the room." According to the Charis team, online viewers noticed an immediate improvement in audio quality during the first service after the system went live. The increased headroom and precision of the DAS system also helped solve long-standing challenges with choir microphones, pastor intelligibility, and feedback management. "Charis Christian Center is a great example of how thoughtful system design can completely transform a challenging space," says Michael Palmer, vice president of sales for DAS Audio. "This installation was about creating a worship environment where every seat feels connected to the experience." Kanneberg also praises the collaboration between DAS Audio throughout the process, noting the team's attention to detail and commitment to getting the system right.
