Robe MMX Units Purchased by Light Logic, Moscow

The Moscow-based lighting design and rental company Light Logic has invested in its first batch of Robe's new MMX Spot moving light fixtures. Light Logic is the first company in Russia to have the 1200 series fixtures from Robe.

MMX was launched this year and Robe reports that it is already a success, with over 1,500 units sold and orders being received and processed daily by the factory in the Czech Republic. The units were supplied to Light Logic by Russian distributor Sofitlight, after being specified by Light Logic's primary designer Dmitry Velikanov and technical director Ivan Nassonov. The deal was coordinated for Robe by Russia/CIS regional sales manager Boris Krylov and for Sofitlight by general director, Arkady Shakhidjanoz.

Light Logic was also the first Russian rental company to invest in Robe's fastest-eve-selling product, the ROBIN 600 LEDWash earlier in 2011, of which it now has about 75. The company works in all sectors of the industry -- supplying creative concepts, equipment, and crew to corporate presentations, live concerts, and events and theatre and television productions.

Features of MMX that closed the deal include the size -- it is compact, lightweight, and has a small base. They also like the extreme brightness -- the lights source used is the Philips high pressure MSR Platinum 35 lamp, which combined with a sophisticated optical system makes the MMX Spot a true equivalent of any current 1200W Spotlight moving head.

In some features, the MMX is as bright as a 1,500W spotlight and is also energy-saving, consuming about 30% less power than current and previous 1200W products.

The Light Logic team also appreciates the MMX's remote hotspot control, helpful for television applications. Apart from that, they also use it as an effect in its own right, in addition to the numerous others offered by the fixture.

A main MMX feature is the dual graphic wheel (patent-pending), which can be utilized to create animation effects. The unit also has two rotating gobo wheels, each with seven slot-and-lock gobos and open; an extremely fast motorized iris; and full CMY color mixing, with variable CTO plus a color wheel offering seven dichroic filters plus open.

Light Logic's MMXs have already been in action on a wide variety of Veliksanov's shows including the high-profile TV production Tsentral Television on NTV and various concerts at the Estarade Theatre in Moscow.

Their ROBIN 600 LEDWashes have also been keeping extremely busy, and have been used -- among other events -- for lighting two booths at the MAKS (Moscow Aviation and Cosmos Show); assorted corporate shows, the TV game show Night at the Museum for The Culture Channel, and Bunker News, a popular political and current affairs satire on RenTV. The plan is to continue replacing all the 1200 Series fixtures over time, so more purchases are expected soon.

Krylov comments, "We are really happy to have Light Logic amongst our rental partners in Moscow. They are bringing the most innovative products to the market and allowing Robe to be introduced across Russia as well as tested thoroughly in the most demanding environment of television."
