Matthew Burstein Named Senior Associate of Available Light

Matthew Burstein, Available Light

Matthew Burstein, a 30-year lighting veteran with extensive experience in theatrical, entertainment, event, and architectural lighting and controls, has been named a senior associate at Available Light.

"This is a very exciting time of growth at Available Light," reports Steven Rosen, IALD, principal and creative director of Available Light. "As Matthew is highly skilled in a number of specialties -- from sales and marketing to production services and from programming to project management -- he will be a valuable utility player and team member allowing us to even better serve our diverse clients at the high level of professionalism they have come to expect from our firm."

Burstein comes to Available Light from Philips Entertainment where, since 2012, he served as northeast regional sales manager and controls system designer. His control system designs work included Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto, Surrey Memorial Hospital Prenatal Care Unit, Niagara Mohawk power building, and the Ken Burns Bridge. Prior to Philips, he has served as director of sales and technical manager for various companies including Acolyte LED, 510 Lighting, and Genlyte Controls.

Burstein was president/owner of Charles River Marketing & Technical Services, president/CEO of LIT Design Ltd., and director of production for High Output, Inc. of Boston. Other credits include freelance lighting technician/programmer and national programmer/service technician for Martin Professional in Hollywood, Florida.

Over the years, Burstein's numerous technical accomplishments include working as a lighting programmer and service technician for events such as Miss America, Hootie and the Blowfish, Michael Jackson, James Taylor, Country Music Awards, and Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children. Director of production assignments included First Night Y2K Boston and the Mohegan Sun Casino. His project management team duties were for projects as diverse as the Saudi Aramco Exhibit (for Available Light), the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympic Square, the Boston Ballet, and the Miami Heat's Scoreboard.
