LumenRadio -- Swedish Heroes at Eurovision

The LumenRadio team, based in Gothenburg, Sweden, had two reasons to celebrate this year as Sweden brought home the Eurovision Song Contest trophy for the sixth time. This years contest was held in Vienna, Austria and made use of LumenRadio's CRMX technology to provide wireless DMX links around the arena for props and set pieces, ensuring even in highly congested environment, the link was rock solid.

Lighting designer Al Gurdon dazzled the audience with an array of looks from soft and subtle ballads to rock and punk, accented by LED screens embedded in the floor and providing a constantly evolving backdrop to the stage. Providing media technology and kinetic lighting effects was Entertainment Technology Concepts GmbH. Volker Suhre, CEO, selected LumenRadio as their wireless partner for the event.

The CRMX technology was used in the show to provide links to difficult to get to locations, including fixtures placed at audience level within the center of the arena -- right amongst the 10,000 audience members.

Senior R&D engineer at LumenRadio, Michael Karlsson, commented "It's always a pleasure to be involved in huge projects like this -- wireless frequencies are at a premium in an event like this and the team at Eurovision wanted a solution they could trust and of course they turned to LumenRadio. We were more than happy to oblige!"

The contest, which is one of the largest TV broadcast events annually, saw Sweden's Måns Zelmerlöw's "Heroes" take the top spot, with 365 points. Beamed to an estimated 180 million viewers live on TV. The LumenRadio team are already looking forward to next years contest, on home soil.
