APB-DynaSonics Makes NAMM Debut Under New Ownership

Bill Coons (Contact Distribution) and Chuck Augustowski (APB) team up to relaunch APB-DynaSonics in North America.

After a recent change in ownership, APB-DynaSonics has announced the relaunch of a range of its most popular products -- the MixSwitch, ProRack-House, and ProSpec lines. The analog console manufacturer will showcase these products at the 2020 NAMM Show, booth 17505.

Chuck Augustowski, who founded the company along with John Petrucelli and Taz Bhogal in 2004, has returned to the helm and is responsible for driving the acquisition by the new owners and initiating production of the APB-DynaSonics product line. Augustowski has engaged long-term APB partner, Contact Distribution, to handle the relaunch and distribution of APB products throughout North America.

"This is an exciting time for APB. We are looking forward to re-introducing the APB product line and are preparing to roll out some exciting new products in the near future," says Augustowski. "For years, I have been told by our existing customers that there is still a strong need for good quality analog mixers. We are prepared to fill that niche while also developing new products that utilize digital control over analog circuits."

After APB has stocked its warehouse, attention will turn to producing updated versions of the desktop ProDesk-4, followed by the ProDesk-8. In addition, a new version of MixSwitch is in design that will include digital, analog, and Dante inputs and outputs with an expanded feature set making the unit more usable in a wider variety of touring and fixed install applications. MixSwitch-Hybrid, which is scheduled to debut in late 2020, will be the bridge to the development of a new APB-DynaSonics family of digitally controlled mixers and consoles.

Bill Coons, director/principal of Contact Distribution, said the timing was right for APB-DynaSonics to make inroads into the market again. "Chuck is arguably one of the world's authorities on the live console marketplace and has been the driving force behind APB since its inception. I've seen what he is finalizing in new product development, and it's not surprising that APB will soon deliver a new genre of products that will significantly surpass everything currently appropriate for live sound mixing."

Both Augustowski and Coons will be available at NAMM booth 17505 throughout the show. Augustowski concludes, "We encourage all of our existing and future customers to stop by, say hello, and see what we have to offer. Our goal is to deliver the convenience of digital control with the quality and reliability of analog sound. It's good to be back."
