ZFX Adds Richard Nix and Royal Marty to the Team

Richard Nix and Royal Marty, ZFX

ZFX, a provider of performer flying and automation systems announces the addition of Richard Nix and Royal Marty.

Nix is the director of engineering and standards, overseeing engineering and standards conformance for ZFX products and further developing ZFX's internal risk management programs, particularly within the newly formed eZ-Hoist division. He will also represent ZFX as its principle voting representative in ESTA's Technical Standards Program. Nix's not-so-secret mission is to get kilts into the next performer flying standard as a mandatory requirement for flying system operators.

"Richard is a person that I have sought for quite some time," says Robert Dean, ZFX's founder and head honcho. "Richard brings a level of expertise from the engineering industry that ZFX has never had. His attention to detail is tremendous." Dean goes on to say, "Richard will be able to assist us in making sure all of our products meet every standard that relates to our industry as well as ensure our contributions to the development of future standards." Dean adds, "I am on a quest to find Richard a true white kilt that can be properly customized for his love of tie dye."

Nix comes to ZFX from Entertainment Structures Group where he held the position of division coordinator, working with some of the industry's best engineers. Nix has been a hyperactive proponent for entertainment and special event standards for over 20 years, contributing to the field as a task group leader, participant, and active working group contributor to numerous standards, including ANSI E1.4-2014 (Manual Counterweight Rigging Systems), ANSI E1.6-1-2012 (Powered Hoist Systems), and ANSI E1.43-2016 (Performer Flying Systems). When asked about his decision to join the ZFX team, Nix shares, "The entertainment industry is all about providing the audience an escape from their everyday reality. For me, seeing the perception of doing the impossible transform into the viewer's reality is making magic. If you can see it, you can believe it. ZFX creates magic on a daily basis. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that kind of creative energy?" He concludes, "The largest benefit to joining the ZFX team is that I feel 28% brighter already!"

Royal Marty assumes the position of director of ZFX's eZ-Hoist Division. Marty will oversee business development, product design, technical support, and marketing for eZ-Hoist. He's also been tasked with getting a cupholder on the already feature-heavy eZ-Hoist line of machinery.

"Having Royal on board is tremendous," says Dean. "It's huge. I know a lot of smart people. Believe me. This guy has a brain. He brings invaluable hands-on experience from the scenic automation industry to eZ-Hoist. And his clean-cut good looks should make us a hit at trade shows, especially in Utah." Marty brings expansive experience from the scenic automation and live entertainment industry to eZ-Hoist. "Royal will assist in providing our customers with automation that matches their imagination. He is tasked with making sure every theater has the equipment necessary to inspire them throughout their production process," continues Dean.

Royal has most notably worked for Creative Conners as product engineer and J.R. Clancy in the mechanical engineering department. When asked what drew Marty to ZFX and eZ-Hoist, he says, "I have always appreciated their commitment to their work. When ZFX sets out to do something, they always produce a polished product and effect." Marty goes on to say, "I've looked forward to working with the eZ-Hoist team for a while, and it's great to have my hands on this gear and work with these professionals."
