Moscow's Helikon Opera Invests in 100 Clay Paky Luminaires

Helikon Opera in Moscow

Moscow's Helikon Opera has invested in almost 100 Clay Paky luminaires as part of a modernization of the venue.

The newly restored main stage opened with a gala concert in November 2015 after many years of reconstruction and refurbishment.

Clay Paky's long term Russian distributor, DOKA Center, prepared the specification and recommended the Clay Paky fixtures to the theatre.

"This was a very interesting project to work on -- the new building is fantastic and the Helikon Opera is housed in the historical center of Moscow," says Vasily Litvin, DOKA's brand manager for Clay Paky equipment.

In the new building's smaller hall, Doka specified: six Alpha Profile 700 ST; six A.leda B-EYE K20; 14 Sharpy; and 18 A.leda B-EYE K10, alongside the relevant flight cases and foam shells.

In the bigger hall, DOKA supplied six Alpha Spot HPE 1200; 16 Alpha Spot QWO800; six Alpha Wash HALO; four Alpha Wash 1200; 16 A.leda Wash K20; and four Alpha Profile 700, in addition to accessories and flight cases.

"The staff at the theatre is incredibly happy with the new fixtures -- Clay Paky always delivers and the array of Clay Paky fixtures in each hall is creating powerful looks for new performances," adds Litvin.

The Alpha Spot QWO 800 uses the latest MSR Platinum lamp -- an 800W light source that produces an intense sparkling light, brighter even than older 1,200W lamps. Small, lightweight construction, impressive zoom range, excellent brightness, uniform beam and low energy consumption are just some of the features that make the Alpha Spot QWO 800 an excellent tool for theatre and a range of other applications.

The A.leda B-EYE K10 and K20 fixtures are high performance wash lights which allow the lighting designer to program spectacular visual effects.

Russia's most celebrated singers took part in the gala opening, featuring baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky and international stars including the mezzo-soprano Olga Borodina, the Latvian tenor Alexander Antonenko, and the Albanian soprano Inva Mula.

Clay Paky luminaires are being installed in many of Russia's most prestigious venues thanks to the company's alliance with DOKA. Recently, more than 157 Clay Paky luminaires including Alpha Wash 300s and Alpha Spot HPE 300s were installed during the refurbishment of one of Russia's oldest theatres, The Voronezh Drama Theatre.

DOKA also played a key role in renovating the famous Bolshoi Theatre, supplying more than 350 Clay Paky luminaires into the historic space.
