Announcing "The Collaborator Party" - A Tony Night Party for the Theatre Sound Community

Theatrical sound designers Lindsay Jones and John Gromada announce that they will be throwing a Tony night party for the entire theatre sound community and all of their collaborators called The Collaborator Party. This will be a special event designed to celebrate the artistry of sound designers this year as well the community that has grown out of the response to the recent decision by the Tony Awards to eliminate the awards for Best Sound Design of a Play and Best Sound Design of a Musical.

"After the Tony Awards' decision was announced," said Jones, "we felt strongly that the sound design community needed a positive event to celebrate the important work that sound designers do on Broadway. The entire theatre sound design community has seen such incredible amounts of support in recent months from many people working in theatre, and we thought that this would be a great way to bring us all together in an evening of fun and celebration."

The party will take place on June 7, 2015 from 7-11pm at Houston Hall, 222 W Houston St., in New York City. Through the generous donations of several sponsors, tickets are being sold at a reduced price for the first 200 guests, which will allow these guests to enjoy four hours of food and drinks for only $50. Additional tickets will be sold at a higher price after the initial 200 have been purchased. Tickets are now on sale at www.collaboratorparty.com.

The lead sponsor for The Collaborator Party is Figure 53, makers of Qlab, the sound playback software used in many professional theatre productions, as well as Tixato, a ticketing software which will be used to sell admission to the party.

"Figure 53's software is really at the heart of so much of what we do, providing us with incredible tools that let us use and control sound in way that can only be described as an art," said Gromada. "And their statement of support for the sound design community last year was greatly appreciated by all of us. We are very excited and truly honored that they have taken the role as lead sponsor on this event."

Other sponsors include Lighting&Sound America magazine, Masque Sound, Point Source Audio, and Live Design magazine.

"Let's face it, throwing a large party in New York City is expensive and we really wanted to keep our costs down so that all members working in our community could afford to come to this special event," said Jones. "We are deeply grateful to all our sponsors for their support of our art form and our community."
