ADJ Launches Focus CMY Compact

At the heart of the fixture is an efficient 400W LED engine that produces 14,500 lumens of output, the company says.

ADJ introduces the Focus CMY Compact, a next-generation automated LED moving head designed to deliver exceptional output, advanced creative control, and maximum flexibility -- all from a portable form factor. Combining beam, spot, and wash capabilities with full CMY color mixing and professional-grade connectivity, the Focus CMY Compact is said to empower lighting designers to do more with less.

At the heart of the fixture is an efficient 400W LED engine that produces 14,500 lumens of output. This light source ensures the Focus CMY Compact can stand shoulder-to-shoulder with larger luminaires on concert stages, in theatres, at corporate productions, and in houses of worship -- while maintaining a smaller footprint and reduced weight.

Designed to adapt to a wide range of applications, the Focus CMY Compact features a motorized zoom system with a versatile 3- to 52-degree range. This allows the fixture to seamlessly transition from a tight, punchy beam to a crisp spot or a smooth wash, providing lighting professionals with three distinct fixture types in one. Fast and accurate three-phase pan and tilt motors ensure responsive movement and precise positioning, ideal for dynamic shows and tightly choreographed lighting designs.

Color control is equally comprehensive, the company says. The fixture's CMY mixing system offers smooth, continuous color blending, enhanced by an adjustable CTO correction range from 3,200K to 8,500K for fine-tuning white light to suit different environments. In addition, a dedicated color wheel provides seven dichroic filters, including a High CRI option for scenarios where accurate color rendering is essential, such as broadcast, theater, and worship settings.

The creative toolkit extends well beyond color. Two GOBO wheels open up vast projection possibilities: one featuring eight rotating, indexable, and replaceable glass patterns, and another loaded with ten static designs. Designers can layer textures and create dynamic visual interest with ease. Dual rotating prisms -- six-facet circular and six-facet linear -- multiply beams for dramatic aerial effects, while two frost filters (light and heavy) offer additional diffusion options for softer looks and wide washes.

Despite its powerful output and extensive feature set, the Focus CMY Compact lives up to its name. Weighing under 45lb and measuring 23.5" tall, it is engineered for straightforward transport, rigging, and installation. Integrated pan and tilt locks provide added protection during load-in and load-out, helping safeguard the fixture from unintended movement in transit or while being rigged.

Connectivity has been designed with modern production environments in mind. The Focus CMY Compact supports DMX with RDM as well as Art-Net and sACN for network-based systems. It includes both three-pin and five-pin DMX In/Out connections, as well as RJ45 network ports for seamless integration into existing setups. Built-in Aria X2 wireless management and control allows for cable-free DMX and simplified configuration, while NFC functionality and a six-button touch control panel paired with a full-color, reversible LCD display streamline addressing and on-site adjustments.

The LED source offers an average lifespan of 20,000 hours, reducing maintenance demands and contributing to lower total cost of ownership. Its efficient power draw further enhances its suitability for touring productions and permanent installations alike.

"Lighting designers today need fixtures that can deliver serious output and creative flexibility without adding unnecessary bulk," comments Alfred Gonzales, ADJ USA's director of sales. "The Focus CMY Compact was developed as a replacement to our popular Vizi CMY 300 to meet that exact need. It provides the brightness, color control, and beam-shaping tools professionals expect from a high-end hybrid fixture, but in a format that's easier to handle, transport, and integrate into a wide variety of productions. We're confident it will become a go-to solution for designers who want maximum impact from a compact unit."

By uniting beam, spot, and wash performance in a single, lightweight fixture, the Focus CMY Compact reduces the need for multiple dedicated luminaires -- freeing up rigging space, simplifying programming, and optimizing budgets. Whether creating razor-sharp mid-air effects, projecting intricate textures, or delivering vibrant stage washes, it offers the speed, power, and precision required for today's fast-paced productions.

The Focus CMY Compact rounds out ADJ's Focus Series, joining the existing Focus Spot 7Z and Focus Profile luminaires. It is now shipping from ADJ USA and is expected to be available from ADJ Europe in mid-April 2026.
