L-Acoustics 5XT Awarded at LDI2012

L-Acoustics 5XT with the LDI 2012 Best Debuting Product for Sound

L-Acoustics announces that its new 5XT ultra-compact coaxial enclosure just took home LDI 2012's sole Debuting Product Award in the category of Sound. Presented to the manufacturer on Saturday, October 20 at the LDI2012 Awards presentation following the close of the show floor in the Live Design stand at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the award was bestowed as part of LDI's 25th anniversary celebration.

"We're honored that LDI's panel of industry professionals selected our 5XT as the most significant sound product launched at the show," says L-Acoustics marketing director Stéphane Ecalle. "Although it is an extremely small product -- essentially a six-inch cube with a five-inch coaxial driver -- its performance is anything but tiny, and we expect that it will soon be extremely popular in rentals and fixed installations."

The newest and smallest member of L-Acoustics' XT coaxial series, the 5XT is based on a two-way passive design and contains a one-inch diaphragm compression driver coaxially loaded by a five-inch low-mid frequency transducer mounted in a bass-reflex tuned enclosure. Its nominal impedance of 16 ohms allows for extremely cost-effective amplification with either the LA4 or LA8 amplified controller.

Providing surprisingly high-SPL performance over a full frequency range of 90 Hz to 20 kHz, the company says the coaxial transducer arrangement produces a 100-degree axi-symmetric directivity output along with a smooth tonal response free of secondary lobes over the entire frequency range. Its design makes the 5XT perfectly suited to various distributed applications, as a main or fill system.

The L-Acoustics 5XT is expected to begin shipping in early 2013.
