Pacific Coast Entertainment Supplies New Tour of Peter Pan

Pacific Coast Entertainment, based in Huntington Beach, California, is supporting the new McCoy-Rigby-produced national tour of Peter Pan starring Cathy Rigby. PCE provided the production's entire complement of power, lighting, and control equipment. Michael Gilliam, lighting designer for Peter Pan, specified numerous moving spot, flood, and specialty fixtures including Clay Paky's Sharpy. The Sharpy features high-speed movements and incredible beam control, which is why it was selected to represent Tinkerbell in the show. Additionally, the Sharpy's compact size and low power draw make it possible to place the fixture anywhere in the theatre. Elation Power Spot 700 and Design Wash1400 fixtures are also included in the right Lighting is controlled by ETC's Eos and Ion systems. Lighting cues were programmed on an Eos and transferred to the compact, compatible, and transportable ION 2000 with a back-up RPU.

Power distribution and cabling came from TMB. TMB provided PCE with an ultra-fast turnaround time for cable sets as well as custom-made road tough power distros. "TMB stepped-up to the plate and totally made things happen for us," says PCE COO, Ryan Steidinger.

For half a month, PCE's shop was home to Peter Pan's head electrician, Gary Weintraub, and Amy Carr, moving light technician. Together they worked with PCE's technical staff creating custom cable snakes, fabricating steel lighting platforms and instrument transport rigs, and everything else required to get their show fully teched and ready for the road. Additionally, Elation Lighting hosted Carr for some on-site training to teach her field service on the Elation movers. Steidinger commented, "It's great to have industry partners like Elation that will support the shows we are doing." Peter Pan officially opened late August in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and will continue its run around the United States through 2013.
