Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas Lines Up 2011 Classes

Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas has been touring the country, attending regional events, such as Texas Educational Theatre Association and Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region 1, to spread the word about its 2011 classes. The institute's mission - to provide next level training in cutting edge topics -- is expanding to include automation, patterning, and projections and video. In an effort cram as much training as possible into the season, this year's schedule will include six intensive weekend classes in more traditional topics such as Photoshop and foam carving. One of the most innovative components of this, the institute's fifth summer, will be a technician showcase taking place on the final day of class. This will be an opportunity for the students to work in teams to create a live production event showcasing the contribution of each participant. Entertainment directors and managers working in Las Vegas and beyond will be invited to attend this event, which will be held on July 29, to meet the young technicians.

Week-long classes include computer drafting, computer modeling, rigging, automation, props and SFX, sound, makeup and masks, lighting technology, patterning, projections and video, and moving lights. Weekend classes include instrumentation, Photoshop, foam carving, management, gobo color magic, and design charrette.
