Broadweigh Delivers Rigging Confidence on Lana Del Rey's UK TourBroadweigh's wireless load monitoring technology played a key role in ensuring rigging safety on Lana Del Rey's UK tour dates this summer. Partnering with Load Cell Rental, the production deployed 83 Broadweigh 4.75-ton wireless load cells during rehearsals at Fly By Nite Studios and for the live show at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. The UK leg of the highly anticipated tour has seen Lana Del Rey perform in a series of major venues including Wembley Stadium, Glasgow's Hampden Park, and Cardiff's Principality Stadium, with each show demanding high levels of technical precision and rigging assurance. "The video wall in particular required close attention to guarantee even weight distribution," explains Ian Barrett, project manager at Load Cell Rental. "We weighed all points on static hoists ahead of load-in, using Broadweigh's LOG100 software alongside two laptops and two base stations to monitor the data in real time." To support the tour's mobility, production carried two dedicated sets of 30 load cells specifically for weighing the flown video wall at various venues. These were installed during pre-rig days before the main load-in, allowing the team to address any imbalances or safety concerns well in advance. Despite busy environments with high Wi-Fi and Bluetooth traffic, particularly at Cardiff's stadium, the Broadweigh system remained robust and reliable, providing live data to the rigging team without disruption. "All the equipment was fully prepped and labelled before it went on the road," adds Barrett. "The riggers could quickly identify the correct load cell for each hoist, saving time and ensuring accurate measurements every time." Broadweigh's 4.75-ton wireless load cells are designed for precise, real time load monitoring in live entertainment and event production, the company says. Engineered for accuracy, the system is said to offer exceptional range and battery life, and can be viewed via handheld displays, base stations, or Broadweigh's LOG100 software. While no critical rigging issues or weight restrictions arose, the ability to verify safe load distribution across all flown elements -- including lighting, PA, and video -- added significant value to the production team's workflow. "It's fantastic to see our equipment used on such a high-profile, technically demanding tour," says Matthew Youngs, product specialist at Broadweigh. "Knowing that our load cells are trusted by touring professionals to provide peace of mind in these environments is a testament to their quality and reliability."
