HippoSchool Launches New 3.2 Syllabus for 2013

For several years Green Hippo has run a regulated, structured, and graded HippoSchool training program in-house in both the UK and US. HippoSchool is hands-on training with approved Hippotizer equipment. In conjunction with the release of Hippotizer V3.2, Green Hippo announces the all new HippoSchool training syllabus.

The full HippoSchool course is now spread across three days: basic one, basic two, and advanced, as well as private custom training which is available for customers who require a course structured to fit their specific requirements.

Basic one covers getting up and running with the system and the concept of how the software works. It starts with a full introduction of HippoNet and the range of Hippotizer media servers.

Attendees are guided around the ZooKeeper interface covering the different modes (including the brand new X-fade engine) inputs, outputs, color, geometry, and FX controls. Next, the training covers the ways to control the Hippotizer; DMX, ArtNET, MA NET2, MIDI, and an introduction to the timeline component. The course rounds up with importing/exporting a show and using Dr. Hippo to troubleshoot the system.

Basic two goes deeper into the software starting with the timeline component. Looking through the different programming techniques, attendees will quickly be able to transition between different clips, automate color, geometry, and FX.

Next is all things mapping: PixelMapper for outputting video as ArtNET/KiNET for use with LED fixtures, VideoMapper for manipulating video output in conjunction with video based LED products, and RegionMapper allowing attendees to prospectively distort output when projecting onto 3D objects.

In addition, some smaller components including HippoSnapper, HippoOSC, PinBridge, synchro, chat, clock, and ScreenWarp for projecting onto non-linear surfaces such as curved screens, domes, and spheres are covered.

Advanced delves even further into the system, covering advanced timeline programming. By working to a set task, the attendee learns the operational techniques available including CueController and Time code, MTC, SMPTE, and real time.

This training also covers controlling external devices by way of the PhatController and controlling multiple Hippotizer's simultaneously via the brand new multi-select component. Keeping with network-based programming, the training teaches how to implement basic LUA script via PinBridgePlus and then merge all the systems together via UberPan and the Virtual MediaManager.

Private HippoSchool training allows participants to choose what they wish to learn by specifying which topics will be covered. Private training seminars can be held at a location of the customer's choice or at Green Hippo's training suite.
