Clear-Com Announces New CC-28 Lightweight, Premium Headset

Clear-Com's CC-28 lightweight headset

Clear-Com announces their new CC-28 lightweight headset is now shipping. The CC-28 has been designed for exceptional comfort and ease of use and features best-in-class enhanced audio quality with a frequency response up to 14kHz, the company says.

The CC-28 features a 4-pin XLR connector and is a lightweight, single-ear headset with an over-the-head design and a flexible gooseneck microphone. The headset's dynamic microphone can be muted by moving the microphone boom; rotating it up will mute the microphone while rotating down in front of the mouth will un-mute the microphone. The CC-28 is the functional replacement of the CC-26k lightweight headset.

The dynamic mic features a cardioid polar pattern to limit noise from behind the user, and the CC-28 has been upgraded to include a larger earcup with a leatherette ear pad that provides more ear coverage than the CC-26k. Ideally, the CC-28 suits environments where audio quality and comfort for long wear time are paramount, such as broadcast, theatre, and film/tv studio applications and where full noise cancellation and covered ear cuffs are not required.

In a recent field trial with JetWave Wireless, senior manager Josh Flower says, "The CC-28 is a great new lightweight headset, and so far, the folks who have had the opportunity to use it really like the new design. The ear cushions provide all-day comfort, the microphone has great rear rejection, while also maintaining good fidelity, and the speaker has excellent frequency response. We've even tested it in a loud music environment, and the user's voice could be heard clearly despite the background noise."

"We think the new CC-28 will be a very popular headset, and we are pleased that users are already seeing (and hearing) the improvements we've incorporated using their feedback from the CC-26k," concludes senior product manager, Stephen Sandford. "Customer feedback is the driving force behind all of our innovations."

Refresh Kits will be available for the CC-28, the company says.
