Book of Mormon, War Horse Dominate Tony Design Awards

Just as they swept the totality of last night's Tony Awards, The Book of Mormon (nine wins) and War Horse (five) led in the design categories, too. Winners from Book of Mormon included Scott Pask (scenery), Brian MacDevitt (lighting) and Brian Ronan (sound), It's Pask's third win, MacDevitt's fifth, and Ronan's first.

Taking the wins for War Horse were Rae Smith (set design), Paule Constable (lighting), and Christopher Shutt (sound). It's the first Tony win for all three British designers.

Costume design awards went to Tim Gardner and Lizzy Chappel for Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and Desmond Heeley for The Importance of Being Earnest.

War Horse also won the award for Best Play, with The Book of Mormon being named Best Musical.
