Ear Trumpet Labs Launches Wanda Mic

Wanda's sweet spot extends up to 12" away, giving artists the freedom to move while staying true to their sound.

Boutique microphone company Ear Trumpet Labs' latest product Wanda, is available for pre-order. Unveiled in January at the NAMM Global Media Day in Anaheim, the mic was named by Front of House magazine as one of the hit products from the show.

Beneath its stylish vintage-inspired exterior, Wanda is billed as delivering exceptional clarity and detail, capturing every nuance of performance unmatched by other classic-style live mics. Its sweet spot extends up to 12" away, giving artists the freedom to move while staying true to their sound. It excels at anything from the soulful voice of a crooner to the bright punch of a trumpet, the articulate snap of drums, or the warm resonance of a guitar cabinet, the company says.

The medium-large diaphragm condenser capsule, high-SPL-handling circuitry design, and integrated multilayer pop filter ensure professional-grade performance, the company says. With ETL's highest SPL handling yet, Wanda is said to thrive in high-volume scenarios, from powerful horn sections to close snare micing. In a statement, the company says, "The mic offers great feedback rejection and exceptional plosive control for studio-quality sound, anywhere. Its rugged brass construction is built to handle the demands of the road, while its built-in pivoting stand mount ensures seamless positioning on any mic stand."

Founder Philip Graham says, "We worked for over a year on developing a new mic with a distinctive compact solid-brass design that feels different from our existing models while still remaining true to our industrial aesthetic. I was excited to refine the circuit to handle high SPL to make sure it's usable on any source. We are incredibly proud to welcome Wanda into our lineup!"

Like every Ear Trumpet Labs microphone, the company says, Wanda is hand-built at the company's workshop in Oregon.
