Behringer V2.0 Firmware Available for Award-Winning X32 Family

Behringer's X32 digital mixer

Last week at NAMM 2014, Behringer encouraged users of their award-winning X32 family of digital mixers to download V2.0 firmware, which adds a treasure-trove of new features -- and significantly enhances the user experience. The free-of- charge, downloadable update is available at behringer.com.

The new X32 V2.0 firmware provides a 100-band real time analyzer that displays the audio and filtering choices, making it easy to detect critical frequencies, and a new enhanced workflow with expanded scene management capabilities for theater applications give the user even more control over the sound. Users will benefit from "acoustic integration" for use with the new Turbosound iQ Series active loudspeakers or IEM systems via the Ultranet protocol, and a completely re-imagined Virtual FX Rack with 40+ emulations of the most iconic processors of all time.

Behringer has also introduced a series of swappable expansion cards for connecting to multichannel audio networking via MADI and Dante protocols, in addition to the on-board Klark Teknik AES50 connectivity.

"We've been listening to the tens of thousands of users who have made the X32 the best-selling digital mixer of all time," said product manager Jan Duwe. "The feedback we've received from all over the world has helped us make the X32 even more flexible, more responsive -- and an even greater value. The additional FX alone would otherwise cost tens-of-thousands in hardware. This demonstrates the ever evolving X32 feature set, and we won't stop there."

Flexibility enhancements include a cue List, which automates loading scenes and "snippets" at different points in a show. Snippets allow users to save specific parameters that can be recalled -- without affecting the rest of the scene.

A special enhancement to the firmware is the included list of artist's presets -- a collection of channel strips, dynamics, and EQ settings from well-known clubs, studios, and audio engineers, completely free-of-charge. Presets include settings from engineers at Los Angeles' famous Whisky A Go Go, New York's famed Big Blue Meenie Studios, and from touring sound engineers Terry "TJ" Jackson (Earth Wind & Fire), Rick Camp (Jennifer Lopez and Madonna) and Peter Moshay (Hall & Oats).

The X32 firmware V2.0 is also available for free download at the URL below.
