American Audio Launches XLT Series of Power Amplifiers

XLT Series power amplifiers from American Audio feature an advanced design technology that makes them lighter in weight than traditional amps, the company says.

"Our new XLT Series Power Amplifiers are an extremely lightweight and affordable amplifier line that fills an important niche in the pro sound marketplace by offering solutions that end-users have told us they're looking for," said Tom Freret, national sales manager for American Audio. "We are incredibly excited about introducing these groundbreaking products, which can power virtually any mobile sound application yet range in weight from just 13-20lbs. And they start at a MAP of just $249.99, making them light on the wallet, too."

The smallest amp in the XLT Series, the XLT900 outputs 200W of power per channel (RMS @ 8 ohms, 1K Hz, 1% THD), making it a suitable solution for gigging bands and mobile DJs who prefer to travel with ultra-compact PA systems, the company says. The unit weighs just 13lbs. and has a small footprint as well, taking up only four rack spaces and measuring 23.5" long by 18.25" wide by 6.75".

The more powerful and only slightly larger XLT1200 delivers 310W per channel (RMS @ 8 ohms, 1K Hz, 1% THD) and weighs only 15 lbs. Suitable for small and medium-size mobile applications, it takes up four rack spaces and measures 23.5" long by 20" wide by 6.75 high.

Greater wattage is available in the XLT2000, which outputs 450W per channel (RMS @ 8 ohms, 1K Hz, 1% THD) and weighs just 20 lbs. Also a four-rack-space unit, it measures 23.5" long by 20" wide by 6.75" high. The company says it is a fantastic source of power for medium and large-size mobile audio setups where lots of volume is required but size and weight play an important a factor.

Packing the most powerful punch of them all, the XLT2500 cranks out 600W per channel (RMS @ 8 ohms, 1K Hz, 1% THD. It has the same weight and dimensions as the XLT2000 - measuring 23.5" by 20" by 6.75" and weighing just 20 lbs.

Technical specifications of the XLT Series include total harmonic distortion of less than 0.1% (20Hz-20kHz @ 8 ohms); frequency response of +/-01db (@ rated output power, 8 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz); and impedance of 20 ohms balanced/10 ohms unbalanced. Available inputs on all models include ΒΌ" stereo, balanced XLR and RCA, and output options include Speakon and binding post.
