The Prestigious Golden Triga for the Prague Quadrennial 2015 Goes to EstoniaOn Monday, June 22, at the Archa Theatre, the awards for the Prague Quadrennial 2015 were presented to this year's winners. The international jury awarded the Golden Triga for best exposition to the Estonian project Unified Estonia. The Gold Medal for Best Exhibition Design went to Belgium, the Netherlands were recognized for Best Curatorial Concept, and Best Performance Design went to the Chinese team. The jury voted in a wide range of categories, including exhibition design, innovative approach to performance design, performance architecture, promising student talent, and the exposition's ability to provoke dialogue -- a total of 22 prizes. The Prague Quadrennial 2015 jury consisted of outstanding directors Kirsten Dehlholm, Antônio Araújo and Dmitrij Krymov; scenographers and artists Eloise Kazan, Katrina Neiburga, Kamila Polívková and Dominic Huber; theorist Joslin McKinney and architect Radivoje Dinulovic. The main award at the Prague Quadrennial 2015, the Golden Triga PQ 2015 for the Best Exposition, went to Estonia for Unified Estonia. This project, which presented a fictional movement founded by Theatre NO99 that, over two months, became a relevant political force with 25% of votes in public opinion polls, also received the Gold Medal PQ 2015 for Innovative Approach to Performance Design. The unusual approach to the project's realization won it nominations in several other categories as well. It was recognized in particular for its use of scenography in a way that contributes to development ways of combining narration with performance design. The Gold Medal PQ 2015 for the Best Exhibition Design went to the Belgian national exposition, MovingLab.be, which took a fresh and stimulating approach to presenting the creation and realization of a scenographic project in a collaborative environment. The Gold Medal PQ 2015 for Curatorial Concept of an Exhibition went to the Netherlands, whose exploration of downtown Prague made use of scenic design as a tool for understanding the city. The Gold Medal PQ 2015 for Performance Design was awarded to Chinese artist Gao Guangjian for his design for the performance of Throughout the Empire All Hearts Turned to Him; the Honorary PQ 2015 Award for Performance Design went to Liu Xinglin. The Gold Medal PQ 2015 for Sound Design went to the Polish team for its project Post-Apocalypsis, which the jury appreciated for its clever use of sound -- the sensitive and interactive sound design reflects contemporary ideas relating to the relationship between man, nature, and technology as part of a hybrid communications system. The Gold Medal PQ 2015 for the Use of Media in Scenography was awarded to the Finnish national team. Although the exposition's central them was sound, the jury was impressed by the way in which it makes use of sound, video, images, and objects for documentation and art. The Gold Medal PQ 2015 for Performance Architecture went to Slovakia for its exposition Reflection of an Image, which paid homage to the work of Milan Corba. The Gold Medal PQ 2015 for the Best Exposition in the Student Section went to Finland, and the student team from Latvia was given the Promising Student Talent award for its exposition The Beginning. And the Gold Medal PQ 2015 for Provoking a Dialogue went to Serbia's artists and students, who fully worked with the idea of art and the artistic process in a social, political, and economic context.
