Solaris Flare Rayzrs Light Up the Netherworld in Beetlejuice What happens if you say Flare Rayzr three times? They appear on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre! Award winning lighting designer Ken Posner's palette for the burlesque world of Beetlejuice included 29 Solaris Flare Rayzr fixtures, earning him a well-deserved Tony Award nomination for his imaginative, emotional, and haunting design. The hit stage adaptation of the 1988 Tim Burton film opened April 25 this year and continues open ended. "We use the Rayzrs primarily as a color wash and toner idea for the Beetlejuice house unit," explains Posner. "Their small size and versatility made them an ideal choice. They work in very tight spaces, where other fixtures simply couldn't fit. Their very bright color rendering is just incredible. A total game changer!" The show's associate LD, Anthony Pearson, adds, "I found the Rayzrs while sourcing compact fixtures for Disney's Frozen. I love the high brightness from such a small form factor, allowing us to hide them where other lights just wouldn't fit. The Rayzrs' extreme brightness also allows us to use them as strobe fixtures as well as strip lights in all the windows, saving us from having to hang a second strobe system for lightning effects, etc. We're using 17 of the 100cm, and 12 of the 50cm models." Rayzrs are available in 50cm and 100cm lengths, with 18 or 36 10W RGBW Cree LEDs respectively, in three-pixel groups. A patent-pending PreSet Yoke with adjustable 15° indexing is standard. Flexible mounting/joining options are available for scenery, truss, pipe, and floor. Units can be seamlessly joined together, razor straight, end to end. The joined units can be vertically hung in total lengths of up to 5m. A 36° beam angle is standard, with 22°, 54°, and 70° options.
