Barco Unveils 30K Lumen Single Xenon Lamp Projector for Events and Large Venues

Barco's HDF-W30 FLEX

Global projection technology provider Barco is expanding its projector portfolio for events and large venues with a three-chip DLP, 30,000 lumens model with WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) resolution. The brand-new HDF-W30 FLEX shares its modular design, preview mode, and ImagePRO scaling with the other HDX, HDF, and HDQ family members, while offering Barco's unique flexible brightness. The new projector will be commercially available as of April 2015.

"Barco is the market leader in large venue projection -- and our HDX, HDF, and HDQ projector platforms are renowned in the industry for their image quality, modularity, and reliability," comments Richard Marples, Barco's strategic marketing director for venues and hospitality. "The HDF platform was previously limited to only 26,000 lumens but with the launch of this new upgraded 30K lumens model, we now cover the entire brightness spectrum -- from 10K to 40K lumens, without gaps -- offering rental companies the widest choice in brightness levels on the market."

Geared with three-chip DLP technology, single Xenon lamp illumination, and a high-contrast optical engine, the company says the HDF-W30 FLEX makes no compromises on brightness, color accuracy, and stability. Xenon lamp color accuracy delivers the best performance required for premium large-screen projection. It's also equipped with Barco's ImagePRO technology for remarkable scaling power. Another benefit is that it offers FLEX brightness, as standard, so rental companies have the flexibility to tune the projector's brightness to a specific show -- from 18,000 to 30,000 lumens in incremental steps of 2,000 lumens.

The HDF-W30 FLEX produces its 30,000 lumens brightness with a single Xenon lamp. Compared to projectors with multiple lamps, managing this projector is a breeze. Moreover, this not only makes it easier to align images during setup but servicing the projector and replacing the lamp also take less time.

Barco's HDX, HDF, and HDQ projector ranges are among the most powerful projectors on the market for events and venues. These rugged projectors are designed for life on the road, and their modular design of only five building blocks makes them easy to install and service. Equipped with rental frames, the projectors can easily be stacked or rigged. Just like the RLM, HDX, HDF, and FLM projector families, the HDF-W30 FLEX uses the TLD lens suite, so there's no need for rental companies to replace their existing lens fleet. The projectors all offer extended warping and blending, DMX-512 control, native 3G HDSDI/SDI input, and BarcoLink for progressive WUXGA 50/59.94/60Hz signal distribution over a single BNC coax cable.

When attached to one of Barco's large venue projectors, the Moving Mirror System (MMS-100 or MMS-200) delivers sharp, bright, and detailed images, anywhere the show designer desires, and across the entire venue. Using a custom front surface and optically flat mirror, the MMS allows an impressive 96% transmission of light. Thanks to Barco's moving mirror systems, bulky, unwieldy, and heavy yokes are no longer required to position images in multiple locations.

Barco will showcase the brand-new HDF-W30 FLEX projector at the ISE trade show, RAI Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from February 10 - 12. You will find Barco at Hall 11, booths F78 and H75.
