Dialogue, Networks, Crisis Management -- Stage|Set|Scenery Prepares for 2021

What creative possibilities does the combination of lighting and sound design with stage equipment and stage technology offer? How can new technologies such as VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) be put to use in architectural planning and production simulations? How can sustainability and zero emissions function in theatres? What demands are there on buildings regarding ventilation and building systems and on spectator areas at cultural and event venues in the age of the coronavirus?

At the fourth edition of Stage|Set|Scenery the focus is on a dialogue on specialist subjects. The international trade show and conference for theatre, film, and event technology is taking place on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from June 15 - 17, 2021. The event is co-organized by Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG) and Messe Berlin.

"As a result of the coronavirus pandemic the theatre and event industry faces huge challenges. As we prepare for the topics at next year's Stage|Set|Scenery we are closely coordinating with industry players and experts from the various sectors", says Wesko Rohde, managing chairman of the board of Deutsche Theatertechnische Gesellschaft (DTHG). "Our aim next year will be to build on Stage|Set|Scenery as a perfect interactive platform. It is particularly in times like these that we see how important a creative dialogue on specialist subjects is. The combination of technical creativity and artistic innovation has a stimulating effect and unites people to achieve a common aim, that of holding an outstanding event."

"These are uncertain times and in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic our industry faces a uniquely testing challenge. What makes a trade fair and industry meeting place stand out is the exhibitors, trade visitors, and the lively exchange of information among everyone taking part", says Patricia Pohle, project manager for Stage|Set|Scenery at Messe Berlin. "'The show is yours' -- is the slogan of Stage|Set|Scenery 2021, which is why we have given some thought to specific offers for companies in order to support their participation."

The Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) is helping innovative startups to participate in selected leading international trade fairs in Germany -- in 2021 Stage|Set|Scenery will take part in the program for the first time. Support will take the shape of participation in a combined stand attended by at least ten companies. Funds are available for stand rental and construction costs, up to 60% of which will be reimbursed by the BMWi. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2021. For more details on how to register for the 'Innovation made in Germany' combined stand can be found here.

"In 2019 the show's international appeal and its innovative products attracted participants from 57 countries to Berlin", says Patricia Pohle, project manager for Stage|Set|Scenery at Messe Berlin. "We will be aiming to provide the usual standard of diversity and quality at the next event -- in spite of all the challenges facing our industry due to the pandemic." Companies wishing to take part in 2021 can register online. Companies which register no later than October 31, 2020 can take advantage of special rates.
