Grund Audio Design Debuts VIP Series Loudspeakers

Grund Audio VIP series loudspeakers

Grund Audio Design, a manufacturer of loudspeaker and signal processing products, recently debuted its new VIP series loudspeakers.

Featuring four models -- three of which are three-way loudspeaker designs -- the new VIP series loudspeakers consist of the VIP-06, VIP-08, VIP-10, and VIP-12 models. These loudspeakers are passive designs (requiring external amplification) with high power capabilities and utilize injection molded enclosures. As the smallest enclosure of the family, the VIP-06 is a two-way design that utilizes a 1" HF dome tweeter coupled with 6.5" cone LF transducer. The VIP-06 provides a 68Hz - 20kHz frequency range for natural sounding program reproduction.

The Grund Audio Design VIP-08, VIP-10, and VIP-12 loudspeakers are all three-way designs. The company says the result is a natural sounding midrange that results in dramatically improved speech intelligibility as well as vocal performance reproduction. The midrange transducer in each of the three models features a 5" cone with a 1" coil in a quasi-horn loaded design.

Similarly, these three models feature 1" HF dome tweeters. For low frequency reproduction, the VIP-08 uses an 8" cone transducer, the VIP-10 employs a 10" cone transducer, and the VIP-12 incorporates a 12" cone transducer. The frequency range for the VIP-08, VIP-10, and VIP-12 is, respectively, 45Hz - 18kHz, 40Hz - 18kHz, and 38Hz - 18kHz.

AV integrators will appreciate the four M6 integrated flypoints offered by the new VIP series loudspeakers. Additionally, Grund Audio Design has an optionally available wall mount bracket. To protect the transducer complement, the VIP series incorporate steel, powder-coated grilles. The VIP-06, VIP-08, and VIP-10 loudspeakers are available in both black and white while the VIP-12 is available in black. Further, the name badges on the front of the enclosures rotate for vertical or horizontal positioning. All models are available in mirror imaged pairs for superior stereo reproduction.

Frank Grund, president of Grund Audio Design, commented on the company's new VIP series loudspeakers, "Our new VIP series is a terrific choice for a wide range of commercial installations. With the exception of the smallest model -- the VIP-06 -- these enclosures are three-way designs. The most notable difference of three-way architecture, as opposed to the more common two-way design, lies in the loudspeaker's ability to reproduce a far more natural midrange. Since the human voice falls into this frequency range, the result is noticeably improved speech intelligibility and more natural vocal reproduction overall. Further, the LF transducers on all models are heavy duty designs with large voice coils that deliver a full, rich-sounding low end."

The new Grund Audio Design VIP series loudspeakers are now available.
