Stagehand Receives American Red Cross Lifesaving Award

The American Red Cross today awarded its National Lifesaving Award to live events production worker Zack Grogan for his role in helping to save a victim of cardiac arrest last December in Las Vegas.

Grogan, a stagehand supervisor for Henderson-based live event labor provider Rhino Nevada, administered chest compressions and rescue breathing to security guard Steve Bingham after Bingham collapsed in the basement area of the MGM Resorts Park Theater following the Jason Aldean show there last December 8. The compressions and breathing administered by Grogan, as well an electric shock provided by an automated external defibrillator, brought Bingham back to consciousness before emergency personnel arrived and took over his care.

The award ceremony, normally held in person, was conducted via video conference and presided over by officers of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the Red Cross.
