Dates Set for URTA Auditions and Interviews

Sponsored by the University Resident Theatre Association, the URTA auditions and interviews - aka "the URTAs" -- have been connecting prospective students with top graduate programs for over 50 years, and are the most accessible, cost-effective way for theatre artists to pursue graduate training.

A mix of in-person and live-virtual recruiting options will be offered in 2026. Event information will be available on urta.com later this summer, and registration will open by early September.

In the design/technology category, virtual interviews will be held on January 20. The interviews will focus on all areas, including recruiting for costume, lighting, media/projections, props, scenic, sound, and technical director.

In-person interviews will take place in Chicago on January 23-24. On January 23, the focus will be on recruiting for costume, lighting, media/projections, and scenic. On January 24, the focus will be on costume, lighting, props, scenic, and technical direction. There will be no sound recruiting in Chicago.

Registration will open in early September. Additional event details and registration information will be available on the association's website later this summer.
