New Sessions Added to Sold-Out Seminar Program at PLASA Focus: Austin

Three new sessions have been added to the attractions already on offer during the inaugural PLASA Focus: Austin 2012, taking place at The Renaissance Austin on February 22-23.

Alongside 50 exhibitors and a two-day program of free professional development sessions, visitors can now book a place on a discussion presented by lighting designer Peter Morse. From Madonna and Michael Jackson to Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Usher, Prince, Christina Aguilera, and Janet Jackson, Morse has worked with some of the biggest stars on some of the biggest tours in history. Morse will talk us through his inimitable personal style, and share some of his experiences in this very special session, titled Lighting the Big Stage with Peter Morse.

Another addition is Advanced Mapping Techniques with Hippotizer Media Servers, presented by TMB. This free training session explores the latest advancement in video technology for live entertainment and installations, high-resolution pixel mapping. Product specialist and trainer Tim Nauss takes us through VideoMapper, PixelMapper, UberPan, and other features of Hippotizer. Currently based out of Los Angeles, Nauss studied design and technical theatre at Christopher Newport University in Virginia and has extensive design experience in theatre and concert productions.

The third in the trio is Demystifying Audio, presented by Jason Waggoner. It is a look at the fundamentals of audio and acoustics, including the acoustic signal path between the loudspeaker and the listener's ears. Expect practical examples, demonstrations, and experiments. Participants who are new to the audio field will get a thorough overview of audio basics while more seasoned veterans will enjoy a nice refresher on their foundation.

Entry to PLASA Focus: Austin 2012 is free; visitors must register via the website, which is listed below. The event will feature 50+ exhibitors in addition to two days of free sessions; free refreshments will be provided.
