EM Acoustics to Debut Two New Cardioid Subwoofers at ISE 2026

Visit EM Acoustics at ISE 2026, Booth #7H350.

British loudspeaker manufacturer, EM Acoustics, will introduce two new products to its portfolio at this year's ISE Show on February 3-6 in Barcelona: the CS15 and CS18 cardioid subwoofers.

"The CS subwoofers are the result of a huge amount of cumulative research and engineering, and their conception speaks to our DNA as an operation, particularly with regards to crossover design" confirms Mike Wheeler, operations director at EM Acoustics. "Critically, each CS subwoofer only requires a single amplifier channel. This in itself is not unprecedented, but our solution is unique in that the cardioid performance is generated by a highly advanced passive crossover network, rather than relying on bandpass group delay. Our R&D benchmark was that the performance of CS should be as good or better than a two-channel, actively driven sub. We have met and exceeded that benchmark. In fact, the team were determined from the outset that they would only proceed with making the CS subwoofers passive if there would be absolutely no performance reduction through the introduction of the passive network. CS subwoofers achieve quite remarkable levels of rear rejection and maintain uniform performance right across their operating envelope. Our approach makes the CS subwoofers a unique product in a market where cardioid products are unsurprisingly becoming increasingly popular."

"Having such outstanding rear rejection performance, without the need for a second amplifier channel, has tangible benefits for integrators and engineers, and in venues where space can be limited," the company says. "Reducing the low-frequency energy radiating to the rear of subwoofers helps to keep stages and performance environments sonically cleaner, resulting in a more accurate overall system response, and radically improved sonic presentation for audience and artist alike."

Available with both standard and touring flyware options, the two new CS subwoofers fit perfectly into the EM Acoustics ecosystem, providing designers, engineers and integrators further options in the design and implementation of truly exceptional audio systems.

Alongside the new cardioid subwoofers, EM Acoustics will highlight its complete Reference Series at ISE. Designed for outstanding performance and flexibility, the Reference Series has become a cornerstone of EM Acoustics' product range. Offering low-profile, full-range point source loudspeakers with impeccable frequency and phase response, the Reference Series is a favorite among sound designers and AV integrators, offering a complete ecosystem across its R4, R5, R6, R8, R10, and R12 models.

"2025 was another record year of growth, world-class projects and product development for us at EM Acoustics," continues Wheeler. "We're looking forward to sharing these developments with an international audience at ISE."

EM Acoustics invites attendees to meet the full management team and explore their latest solutions at Booth #7H350.
