Claypaky Launches Ultimo Sharpy

Weighing in at under 43lb and housed in a sleek, rugged IP66-rated body, Ultimo Sharpy is said to project a razor-sharp, laser-like beam that remains bright and focused across long distances.

Claypaky's Ultimo Sharpy is the next evolution of the Sharpy, a compact IP66-rated beam moving head that, the company says, offers a groundbreaking power-to-size ratio, advanced optics, and fast, true CMY color mixing.

At the heart of Ultimo Sharpy lies a new 250W short-arc lamp, designed for maximum output and sustainability, the company says. Delivering 100,000 lux at 20m (over 9,300fc at 65'), it is billed as packing the punch of much larger fixtures while keeping the compact shape that made the original Sharpy so popular. The company says, "Thanks to precision optics, the beam is razor-sharp, crystal-clear, and completely halo-free -- a laser-like shaft of pure impact that stays perfectly consistent over any distance."

The lamp offers up to 6,000 hours of life in intelligent Pro mode, with its smart dimming technology that reduces lamp stress during quiet cues. The company also notes the unit's ultra-fast tilt, infinite pan rotation, and advanced motor control. For those still using Sharpys in their rights, Ultimo Sharpy comes with a dedicated Sharpy Emulation Mode to match the speed and behavior of the original.

In a statement, the company notes the unit's "ultra-fast, true CMY color mixing delivers seamless transitions, bold saturated tones, delicate pastels, and crisp mid-air effects -- all without the limits of fixed color wheels. A built-in frost filter lets you shift from tight beams to smooth washes in an instant, while the original 14-color wheel brings back that iconic Sharpy vibe."

The company adds, "Dual rotating prisms unlock a new world of creativity, producing intricate, dynamic patterns that go far beyond the capabilities of a single prism. With independent control and layering options -- combined with gobos and frost -- designers can craft evolving effects live, adding drama, depth, and visual impact to every moment."

Weighing in at under 43lb and housed in a sleek, rugged IP66-rated body, Ultimo Sharpy is said to project a razor-sharp, laser-like beam that remains bright and focused across long distances. With a front aperture measuring about 5.5", it floods every inch of its lens with brilliant, punchy light, the company adds.

Measuring about 21", Ultimo Sharpy is designed to fit effortlessly into any setup -- from concert trusses and TV studios to showrooms and conference rooms. Its compact size simplifies rigging in tight spaces, while the lightweight design speeds up setup and transport, making it a suitable choice for tours and fast-paced productions.
