Lighting&Sound America and InfoComm Announce Winners of 2012 Staged Events Awards

Lighting&Sound America magazine and InfoComm International announce the winners of the InfoComm/LSA Staged Events Awards 2012. The awards recognize leadership in staging of events held during 2011.

The winners included:

McCune Audio / Visual / Lighting will receive the award for the Best Overall Staging for a Corporate or Association Event - Technology Budget $50,000-199,999 for its work on the Tech Awards Gala for the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, California for an "immersive environment" focusing on the content, rather than the décor recognizing pioneers in technology. One judge noted: "The technology of the Tech Museum event packed a big, immersive experience into a small package. I loved the wall-to-wall video and especially the stage wrapped in displays. How did they get a seamless 155'-wide curved screen to look so good?"

AVW-TELAV will receive an honorable mention award for their work on the Gala Reconnaissance Event 2011 spotlighting the collaboration between the business community and universities, and support Quebec's emerging researchers. The event was achieved while also achieving the client's goal of a Level 1 Eco-Responsible certification for the event. "Environmentally conscious AVW-TELAV travails to successfully satisfy a Level 1 Eco-Responsible event, an environmental effort deserving of praise and admiration," commented a judge.

LMG Inc. will receive the award for the Best Overall Staging for a Corporate or Association Event - Technology Budget $200,000+ for their work on Blackberry World 2011 with a theme of "Creating a 3D World" through demos, devices, and dimensions. One judge complimented: "Staging a large multi-format event is a challenge even without showing a 3D element. But when 3D is the main show and you still have all the other stuff going on-well, that's mind-boggling. The video production setup and engineering required was over the top for this event."

Freeman will receive an honorable mention award in the Best Overall Staging for a Corporate or Association Event - Technology Budget $200,000+ for their work on the 38th Annual IBEW International Convention "Brotherhood Beyond Borders" held in Vancouver, Canada. One judge stated: "Great use and integration of various pixel pitch video displays to make an immersive experience for the attendees. The interactive speaking station kiosks with user authentication to confirm identity was pretty interesting and a great solve for a problem where many attendees might need to speak to the union leadership."

Freeman also won the award for the Best Use of A/V Technology for a Trade Show Booth/Client for their work on the Telefonica Booth at NAB 2011 that showcased an array of audio visual equipment, shoe-horned into a 20' x 30' booth nicknamed "Starship Enterprise." A judge shared: "Futuristic and impactful. No one missed the stunning AV presentation of the Telefonica Booth at NAB. Freeman creates a powerful vertical lift to seize the attention of Telefonica's future clientele."

Eleven Producciones SAS will receive the award for Most Innovative Use of Technology for an Outdoor Event for the LG Cinema 3D Smart TV Launch in Bogota, Columbia. The five-day event included a mega mapping project on a significant historical monument. One judge said: "An excellent example of an effective outdoor video presentation for LG, Eleven Producciones demonstrates a concise execution of mapping designing video with the native characteristics of the monument in mind."

The InfoComm/LSA Staged Events Awards Judges were David Barbour, editor-in-chief of Lighting&Sound America magazine; Tom Stimson, MBA, CTS, president of The Stimson Group; Janné Mummert, director of business development, VER/Video Equipment Rentals; Jack Kelly, owner and designer of Eye Dialogue; Tobin Neis, director of marketing, Barbizon Lighting Company; and Richard Cadena, Technical Editor of PLASA Media.

The awards will be presented Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at InfoComm, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at 4:30pm in Las Vegas Hotel (Paradise North). The awards presentation follows InfoComm's annual Rental & Staging Forum which will run 3:00-4:30pm.
