Blue Parrot Retains Competitive Advantage with Harman Martin Professional's MAC Quantum Profile

Lighting hire and technical event production specialists Blue Parrot has joined Harman Martin Professional's UK dealer network, adding 12 new Martin MAC Quantum Profile moving heads to their Edinburgh-based hire stock. The fixtures, which feature a 475W white LED engine, are the first real alternative to a more traditional 700/800W discharge moving head.

The Quantum Profiles are the latest addition to Blue Parrot's large moving light inventory which includes 30 MAC Aura washes, 24 MAC 101 units, and a mixture of the flagship MAC Viper series of products: Profile, Performance, and Wash DX models.

"We've had a great experience with our Martin MAC Aura and MAC 101 fixtures over the last few years," says Dave Morris, head of hires, Blue Parrot. "They're reliable and versatile lights in diverse applications, so it makes sense for us to invest in the Quantum Profile to continue offering the latest and best equipment to our production and dry hire customers."

A number of high-profile technical production projects made 2014 very successful for Blue Parrot. In a particularly prestigious instance, the company was asked to manage the site, power, and lighting at the Scottish Parliament's Media Village for the Scottish Referendum.

"The Media Village Project was important for us in many ways as the eyes of the world were on Holyrood for that week," says Jonnie Clough, managing director, Blue Parrot. "The client demanded high production values and especially detailed Health and Safety planning. While it was a challenging project at times, we successfully delivered a safe and efficient village which was well received by visiting international broadcasters."

Other notable projects in 2014 included exterior lighting of the International Broadcast Center in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games, technical production of the "Lates" events at both the Edinburgh Zoo and National Museum of Scotland, technical production of Jesus and Robinson College Cambridge's May Ball formal parties, and lighting and power design for the Virgin Money Festival Fireworks Concert in Edinburgh.

"Most of our projects involve creative solutions, tight production schedules, and no room for mistakes," says Morris. "Keeping ahead of the game by investing in the best equipment available allows us to work quickly and efficiently and guarantee stunning results. The new Quantum Profiles will support us in offering even better solutions throughout 2015 and beyond."
