AUDIX Launches the DP7X Drum Microphone Package

The AUDIX DP7X is shipping now

AUDIX has released the DP7X professional drum microphone package. Building on the legacy of the DP7 seven-piece drum kit solution, the DP7X is billed as delivering a complete, professional-grade microphone lineup designed to capture the full transient detail, impact, and spatial depth of a standard five-piece drum kit.

The defining evolution of the DP7X is the inclusion of the D6X dynamic kick drum microphone, replacing the original D6. It utilizes AUDIX's trademarked VLM (Very Low Mass) diaphragm, delivering, the company says, exceptional transient response and natural, distortion-free sound capture under extremely high sound pressure levels (=144 dB SPL).

Beyond the kick drum, the DP7X includes the i5 snare microphone, which manages close-range transients to capture the fundamental depth and distinctive "crack" of the snare; two D2 rack tom microphones, featuring VLM Type B technology to deliver the attack and warm overtones of rack toms with excellent off-axis isolation; the D4 floor tom Mmcrophone, utilizing VLM Type D technology, offering an extended low-frequency response down to 40Hz to capture the deep, fundamental resonance of floor toms; and two ADX51 overhead microphones, featuring 14mm gold-sputtered diaphragms and cardioid pickup patterns, designed overhead to add spatial dimension, smooth cymbals, and a phase-coherent stereo image of the entire kit.

The package comes complete with professional mounting hardware and accessories, including four DVICE spring-loaded rim-mount clamps, three DCLIP heavy-duty mic clips, one MC1 nylon clip, and two WS81C foam windscreens for the overhead condensers.

"With the DP7X, we are giving live engineers and recording artists a legendary drum-miking standard with a massive upgrade," says Steve Young, AUDIX director of sales. "The addition of the flagship D6X introduces a level of low-end versatility never before seen in a pre-configured package. Drummers can now adapt their core kick sound between modern click, balanced punch, or natural resonance in seconds. Combined with our industry-leading tom, snare, and overhead mics-all packed into a brand-new, ultra-durable nylon case -- the DP7X is the ultimate, ready-to-roll tool for any stage or studio."

The AUDIX DP7X is shipping now and available through authorized AUDIX retailers worldwide.
