Chevelle Takes Bandit Lites on Tour

Chevelle in concert with Bandit Lites.

American rock band Chevelle, comprised of Dean Bernardini and brothers Pete and Sam Loeffler, has been making music and touring for more than two decades, but they aren't kicking back and looking towards slowing down. Rather than rest on their laurels, the band released their eighth studio album The North Corridor this July and have been touring the country with a lighting package provided by Bandit Lites.

Lighting designer Craig Richter shared the band was looking to change up their look this year, with more set pieces and lighting fixtures, a challenge he was certainly up to accomplishing.

"Nothing on the main set piece is symmetrical, so it makes it harder to make your generic positions," he said. "I really had to switch my way of thinking come programming time."

GLP X4s are placed on top of the set pieces to provide the main source of lighting and eye catching looks, while GLP X4 Bars light the guitar and bass cabinets, with some also illuminating set pieces and the back drop. Cutting through the X4's are Martin by Harman MAC Viper Profiles, with gobos providing texture to the stage in addition to being what Richter calls "the workhorse of the rig."

Bandit also supplied Martin Atomic 3000 LEDs which provided strobe and aura effects, Elation Professional Six Par 100s to light the drums, and Chauvet Professional Rogue RH1 Hybrids.

"I use them a lot for big beam looks," said Richter of the Rogue RH1 Hybrids. "I went with them mainly because of the stackable prism and zoom range."

Richter praised Bandit's professional yet personable approach, sharing that every project he partners with chief business officer Brent Barrett is a great experience.

"Brent could have a hundred different show in front of him, and all of them could be bigger than mine but he will always take a call to make a tweak here or there and say no problem at all, even if it is a pain," Richter said before adding, "It's nice to know that any problem I run into I can always give my project manager, Matt King, a call, and by the end of the phone call the problem is solved or we at least have an idea on where to start, such as ordering more haze fluid or even swapping an entire fixture."

"Craig is exceedingly talented at creating and programming designs for Chevelle that both complement and enhance their music," said Barrett. "I especially appreciate his openness for discussion and his flexibility, when practical, in accomplishing his vision."

Chevelle is on tour for the through October and will resume in 2017. For more information regarding tour dates, visit the URL below.
