Shure Announces New Additions to its Wireless Systems at InfoComm

ULX-D Wide Tuning Wireless System components will begin shipping this fall.

Today at InfoComm, Shure introduces new additions to its wireless system. The ANX4 is the first Shure wireless receiver featuring channel scalability, offering up to 16 channels of Axient Digital or 24 channels of ULX-D in a single device via channel licenses. ANX4 hardware is available this fall through authorized dealers. Channel licenses can be purchased through authorized dealers or at Shure.com.

This summer, channel expansion capability and Axient Digital Standard Transmission Mode will be available for Axient Digital PSM as a firmware update through ShureCloud or the Shure Update Utility. Channel expansion licenses can be purchased through authorized dealers or at Shure.com this fall.

Users will now be able to add up to 12 stereo audio channels for the ADTQ quad transmitter and siox for the ADTD dual transmitter, totaling 16 or 8 stereo channels, respectively. Channel expansion licenses can be purchased through Shure.com or from existing authorized dealers. Also, Axient Digital Standard Transmission Mode enables ADTQ and ADTD transmitters to send wireless audio to various Axient Digital microphone receivers, extending high-power, long-distance audio transmission capabilities.

New transmitters and receivers, shipping in the US this fall, will provide an expanded frequency range and greater geographic usability, the company says, for the acclaimed ULX-D Wireless System. New wide-tuning ULX-D components are compatible with the scalable ANX4 digital wireless receiver.

Once channel licenses are purchased for ANX4 or Axient Digital PSM, they can be activated by the owner and later reallocated to other hardware units of the same type through ShureCloud. For example, audio professionals can deploy their licensed ANX4 channels between any number of ANX4 receivers and likewise deploy their licensed Axient Digital PSM channels between any number of Axient Digital PSM transmitters. This flexibility allows users to move wireless channels without having to move their hardware, making it easier to meet the changing requirements of high channel count productions.

"Shure continues to innovate with powerful wireless technology that can adapt to fit the dynamic needs of our customers," says Nick Wood, associate vice president of marketing and product management for professional audio at Shure. "These solutions are intended to increase the flexibility of our products while bringing together hardware and software capabilities that allow audio professionals to do more with the overall solution."

The ANX4 is a scalable device that can be operated in either Axient Digital or ULX-D mode, supporting all available transmitter options in those platforms. It ships without preconfigured wireless channels and can be activated to support any channel count up to its maximum capacity using ShureCloud. The company says the products design empowers users to buy channel licenses in the quantity they need and provision these across multiple ANX4 hardware units, enabling unmatched flexibility for high-channel-count productions. Available in AC and DC powered versions, the ANX4 includes a wide tuning range of 174MHz to 2GHz and two pairs of antenna inputs that can each be tuned up to 72MHz wide.

The single rack receiver maximizes efficiency by using less space and reducing heat, offering a cost-effective solution at high channel counts, without compromising on Axient Digital's and ULX-D's existing features. This, the company says, makes it suitable for audio rental companies, fixed installations, and location sound mixers, as it reduces the space and weight typically required for high channel count solutions.

Enhanced connectivity options on ANX4 include four Ethernet and four coaxial antenna inputs for streamlined configuration, with no need for additional antenna distribution gear. Additionally, ANX4 features a large, 6.6" front panel color display, support for all ULX-D and Axient Digital frequency bands, Dante/AES67 outputs, and a ΒΌ" front-panel headphone connector for convenient monitoring. ANX4 also supports network control with Shure Wireless Workbench for comprehensive, remote RF monitoring and management.

The new firmware update to Axient Digital PSM, available through ShureCloud or the Shure Update Utility this summer, includes two significant updates:

Channel expansion: Axient Digital PSM transmitters can be outfitted with expanded channel capacity, utilizing the multi-channel wideband (WMAS ) transmission capabilities to support up to 16 stereo audio channels for the ADTQ quad transmitter and eight for the ADTD dual transmitter. The channel expansion consolidates the use of rack space while reducing weight and adding new options for adapting the system to fit a variety of use cases. Expansion is available through the purchase of channel licenses -- one- and four-count increments. Channel expansion licenses can be purchased through existing authorized dealers or at Shure.com, available this fall.

Axient Digital Standard Transmission Mode (point-to-point transmission): Deliver high-tier wireless audio across much greater distances when needed by using Axient Digital PSM ADTQ and ADTD transmitters to pass wireless audio to Axient Digital wireless microphone receivers, including the AD4Q, AD4D rack receivers. The ADTQ and ADTD deliver higher-tier wireless audio across greater distances due to their higher RF output power compared to standard Axient Digital body-pack transmitters.

The new ULX-D Wide Tuning Wireless components include transmitters and receivers that will ship with expanded frequency bands -- up to 166MHz wide (regionally dependent), giving audio professionals flexibility to use their ULX-D components in more locations across the country with fewer frequency bands to manage.

ULX-D Wide Tuning frequency range availability varies around the world based on regional regulatory requirements: In the US, up to 138MHz. In Europe and Latin America, up to 166MHz. In other countries, range will vary based on individual regulatory requirements.

New ULX-D components updated with Wide Tuning Bands include ULXD1 body-pack transmitters, ULXD2 handheld transmitters, ULXD4D dual channel receivers, and ULXD4Q quad-channel receivers.

New wide-tuning ULX-D components are compatible with the scalable ANX4 digital wireless receiver. Legacy ULX-D tuning band transmitters will work with wide-tuning receivers. Likewise, legacy ULX-D tuning band receivers will work with new wide-tuning transmitters as long as frequency ranges match.

ULX-D Wide Tuning Wireless System components will begin shipping this fall.
