Lightswitch Opens Hong Kong Office

Building on the success of recent projects in Asia, Lightswitch has formalized its presence in the region by opening a new location in Hong Kong. The addition marks an exciting global expansion for the company, a lighting design consortium with offices throughout the US. Under the leadership of directors of lighting design Warren Kong and Alice Tang, Lightswitch Hong Kong will offer a full range of lighting and multimedia design services for architecture, events, environments, and museums.

"After the success of projects such as the City of Dreams Resort and the Coca-Cola Experience Center at the Beijing Olympics, we are delighted to continue growing and strengthening our reputation in Asia through the addition of a full-service office," says Norm Schwab, Lightswitch principal.

The Hong Kong office will draw on the firm's experience in Asia, which includes the Colombia Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo and the Broadway show Dreamgirls, which originated in Seoul and will be opening in Tokyo in 2013. Lightswitch is also currently collaborating with the renowned Pei Partnership on the Bank of China tower in Suzhou, China, and is designing an extensive redevelopment of the Hong Kong Jockey Club in several locations.

"Our experience in Asia has given us a better understanding of everything from local equipment manufacturers and suppliers to local labor practices, all of which is knowledge that we can offer to our clients," adds Schwab. "We can now better serve our US clients who have projects in Asia by operating a full-service office that is capable of collaborating with our existing organization. We have designers, project managers, and programmers in Hong Kong and are building a network of people throughout the region who can help us work efficiently and economically on projects in both America and Asia."
