Barco Introduces 14K Lumens Projector

Global projection technology leader Barco announces the launch of the RLM-W14-a three-chip DLP projector offering Active Stereo 3D, WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) resolution, and a brightness level of 14,500 center lumens. The RLM-W14 is designed for fixed installation in small- to medium-sized venues; but its rugged chassis, extended warping and blending functionalities, and optional rental frame make it equally suited for the rental and staging market as well, the company says. The new projector will be commercially available from October 2014 onwards.

"With the launch of our new RLM-W14 projector, we're not only expanding the brightness spectrum of our three-chip DLP RLM family-now ranging from 6,000 up to 14,500 lumens-but we're also meeting customer demands for brighter projectors in a compact and cost-effective form factor," says Richard Marples, strategic market director venues & hospitality at Barco. "It achieves its 14,500 lumens with twin 465W NSH lamps which-next to being very affordable-offer long lifetime. Thanks to these features, it's perfectly suited for fixed installation in museums, theaters, houses of worship, hotels, lecture halls, or conference auditoriums, as well as for the rental market."

Supporting point-to-point transmission of video signals-up to WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) at 60Hz-from a source converter to a projector over a single Cat 5 cable, the RLM-W14's integrated HDBaseT technology eliminates the need for multiple cables and connectors. It covers signal distribution over a distance of more than 70 meters. Barco is gradually integrating HDBaseT technology into its projector fleet to satisfy growing market demand, the company says.

The RLM-W14 features a product design that reduces noise and minimizes power consumption. What's more, its TLD lenses are also compatible with Barco's RLM-W12 projector, HDX and HDF projector ranges, so that users who already own a Barco projector won't need to replace their lens fleet. It's also standard equipped with BarcoLink technology, which allows native WUXGA @ 60Hz signals to be transmitted between the Barco image processors and projectors via a single BNC cable. The RLM-W14 operates on a voltage of 110V - 240V, so that users who are based in the US or Japan won't require an extra adaptor to use it.

The RLM-W14 can be easily controlled in multiple ways: via the new wired or wireless remote control, the projector control app for Android and iOS devices, and the user-friendly Barco Projector Toolset software.

Barco will be showcasing the new RLM-W14 projector at the Euro Attractions Show (EAS), RAI Amsterdam, The Netherlands, from September 23 - 25. Barco will be found in Hall 7, booth #7321.
