CITT/ICTS Sets Dates for Rendez-vous August 12-14

"The conference fosters an inclusive, hands-on learning environment where ideas are exchanged, connections are formed, and careers are inspired," the company says.

Delegate registration is now open for the 36th edition of CITT/ICTS' annual conference and trade show, Rendez-vous, August 12-14 in Ottawa, Ontario, at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Arts, Department of Theatre's LabO building.

"Held in a different Canadian city each year, Rendez-vous brings together emerging and established professionals from the live performance and events industry around a program of professional development, networking, and collaboration," the company says. "The conference fosters an inclusive, hands-on learning environment where ideas are exchanged, connections are formed, and careers are inspired."

The conference program features a wide range of educational sessions, roundtables, and panels that cover key aspects of live performance production. Topics include, but are not limited to, technical direction, production, stage management, lighting, sound, new technologies, props, costumes, design, theatre architecture, health and safety, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). These sessions are complemented by pre-conference training, offering one- and two-day hands-on workshops led by industry leaders, social activities designed to build community and spark collaboration, and a one-day trade show featuring products and services for the live production sector.

This year's pre-conference workshops include a two-day theatrical rigging and counterweight fly systems training, presented in collaboration with Joel Theatrical Rigging, the National Arts Centre, and Wes Jenkins, of Downstage Right Industries. A one-day, three-course workshop on production management will be offered in collaboration with PM/TD Arts, the organization of production managers and technical directors. Registration is now open for the Rigging workshop and will open in late May for the PM/TD Arts Series.

Rendez-vous is open to all, with options for full-conference or day passes, low student and freelancer rates, and a special offer for members of performing arts organizations and unions. An early bird rate is available until June 15. A variety of sponsorship and advertising options is available.
