Cameo at La Velada del Ano VILaunched by Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos, the boxing event La Velada del Ano combines fights involving celebrities, live music, traditional show production, and livestream culture to create one of the largest live events in the Spanish-speaking world. The 6th edition took place in the summer of 2026 at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville in front of around 80,000 spectators on site and millions of viewers on Twitch, YouTube, and TikTok. Toni Llobet, director of photography, lighting designer, and founder of Nunawi Studio, was responsible for the lighting design and visual style of the more than eight-hour production. Fluge was responsible for the on-site technical implementation of the event. More than 300 Cameo lights were used, including ZENIT W600 SMD and ZENIT W600 wash lights, and PIXBAR 400 IP G2 and PIXBAR G2 SMD LED bars. For Llobet, lighting design takes place not only on stage but also through the lens of the camera: "What really defines my work is that I always think in terms of both aspects at the same time: the camera and the lighting. Even when I'm designing lighting for a live audience, I think like a cameraman. So the camera is always part of the equation." Accordingly, the entire lighting concept was developed months before the show using 3D visualizations focusing on camera positions, perspectives and frame compositions. The goal: a look that works in the 360-degree stadium setup while also delivering striking visuals for the live stream. Based on the stage design by Brau Produccions from Barcelona, Llobet developed a multi-level lighting design -- from the centrally positioned stage with a boxing ring to the rear stand areas. "In a stadium of this size, it's all about building depth, layer by layer," explains Llobet. "Each Cameo model covered one of these levels." The 152 Cameo ZENIT W600 SMD wash lights on the main ground support towers served both as a general floor wash as well as eye candy lights for the cameras. In addition, the team distributed 88 Cameo ZENIT W600 around the entrances to the stands throughout the stadium: "The ZENIT W600 formed the final layer in the background - almost like flashes of light from the audience, a kind of 'paparazzi mode.' This gave the background a lively, dynamic dimension." The PIXBAR LED bars also fulfilled clearly defined tasks within the combined broadcast/live concept: 28 Cameo PIXBAR 400 IP G2 were used as footlights along the walkway to provide high-quality, consistent lighting for participants, from their first step right up to the stage. A further 48 Cameo PIXBAR G2 SMD supplied eye candy looks for the boxers' entrances and for shots of the commentators. For the lighting designer, the most important qualities of the Cameo lights included the color fidelity across all models, as well as the ability to work at pixel level. "Knowing that a color looks the same across all fixtures allows for clean, consistent looks that also hold up on screen." At the same time, the pixel structure gave him additional creative freedom: depending on the situation, individual fixtures could serve as a wash, bar, graphic element or eye-candy effect -- a decisive advantage for a show that had to combine boxing, live performances and individual show moments within a single visual language.
