Pharos Unveils Latest Developments at PLASA Show

Pharos Architectural Controls returns to the PLASA Show, to be held at Olympia, London September 7-9. The Pharos team will be available to meet visitors and introduce a series of key updates to the company's lighting control product ranges, Pharos Expert and Pharos Designer.

The latest release of the architectural lighting control solution Expert now features Groups, a new way to organize fixtures within a space. Expert 2.0 now offers users the ability to control smaller groups within each space with run-time overrides from the Expert Touch mobile app or touchscreen wall stations.

Expert's programming tools have also been enriched with the ability for users to include static scenes within timeline scenes, the company says. In response to customer requests, many dynamic scenes have had their properties extended. For example, a greater variety of speeds and longer loop times provide more subtle playback. Visitors to the Pharos stand will be able to see all of these new features in action with a hands-on demonstration.

The Pharos RIO D4 remote input/output device is now supported in Expert. The team will demonstrate this DALI four-port device, which connects to an Expert system using a single PoE connection. It's possible to connect up to four RIO D4s to Expert control, providing up to 16 additional DALI interfaces to a system.

Following the launch of DMX Record at PLASA 2024, recent improvements to the Designer suite of control products include DMX Record remapping, an addition that enables recorded universes to be routed to an alternative universe output, including local DMX ports on the controller.

Another significant enhancement has been made to eDMX pass-through. Users can now take eDMX (Art-Net or sACN) from any console and passively route it through the Pharos Designer LPC to another eDMX universe, the controller's local ports, or ports on Pharos DMX gateways (EDN and RIO G4). This is billed as an ideal solution for venues where a permanent installation controlled by a Designer LPC needs to be temporarily controlled by a hired-in console -- perhaps from a touring production -- before control is handed back to the Pharos system when the event is over.

Ryan Sainsbury, regional sales manager for UK and Northern Europe at Pharos Architectural Controls, says, "PLASA Show is an important exhibition in the Pharos events calendar. Our Expert and Designer ranges offer huge advantages to the entertainment technology sector, and the show is the ideal way for us to communicate with our existing and future clients. We are continually developing the Pharos Expert and Designer ranges, and we're looking forward to profiling these at PLASA Show and demonstrating the benefits they offer to a wide variety of lighting projects."
