Schertler Launches New DYN P48 Contact Microphone Series

Swiss manufacturer Schertler announces the release of its new, re-engineered range of DYN contact microphones. The DYN P48 Series features a collection of fully balanced, active, dynamic models with Class A electronics.

Schertler's original DYN Series was first introduced over 20 years ago, with the contact microphones quickly achieving recognition for their ability to enhance the natural sound quality and characteristics of a range of acoustic instruments, the company says. The new P48 Series retains the best features from these original models while incorporating state-of-the-art, in-house developed active filtering technology that has enabled each microphone to be precisely matched to the sound characteristics of its intended instrument, via careful shaping of these filters. This produces more "immediate" results making it possible to achieve amazing sound quality, on stage or in the studio, with only minimal adjustments required, the company says.

DYN P48 Series contact microphones are now smaller, lighter, and therefore less obtrusive to the player. All models are supplied with Schertler's new custom cables. The cables are specially designed to withstand the rigors of daily use. The microphones can be easily and safely applied to instruments using special adhesive putty, the company says. They can also be quickly transferred between instruments during performances or recording sessions. All models (with the exception of the passive DYN-UNI) require 48V phantom power.

"Our new DYN P48 Series marks another milestone in our continuing quest to improve the transmission and reproduction of acoustic instrument sound," says company founder Stephan Schertler. "In the two decades since the original DYN series was launched, there have been significant developments in microphone technology that have enabled us to re-engineer this range to meet today's exacting requirements. Although based on the same moving coil technology as the original models, the fundamental 'soul' of each new contact microphone has been radically transformed and we are delighted with the results."
