"Night to Shine" Sparkles with Bandit Lites at Northfield Church

The Tim Tebow Foundation held its sixth annual Night to Shine event with more than 720 churches from around the world hosting an unforgettable prom night for special needs guests aged 14 and older. Bandit Lites donated the lighting system to the NorthField Church celebration where Luke and Mark Carver of Carver Lighting Design crafted a design that shined as bright as the guests did.

"Since this is a prom, we definitely wanted to create a festive dance party atmosphere," says Mark Carver. "The main room where the event is held is very large and needed coverage from a lot of angles. We need fixtures that had good color saturation and spread."

Due to the brief amount of time allotted for set up and programming, it was imperative the rig was both compact and flexible. And with an outdoor red carpet and fickle winter weather, Bandit Lites suggested the Elation Proteus Rayzor 760, an IP rated moving fixture that could zoom.

"The Elation Proteus Rayzor 760 is great product and one I will choose again," Luke Carver shares. "It is quick with great color rendition all within a compact form factor. It also very bright with a fast pan and tilt."

Claypaky Sharpys supplied beam and aerial effects, Elation Proteus Rayzor 760 illuminated the dance floor with an even wash, Ayrton Magic Panels provided effect lighting, and GLP X4s lit up the walls, hallways, and effects on the dance floor.

"We also wanted a big wow moment something different from years past of the event," says Luke Carver. "We decided on a 3' mirror ball that would be hung in the middle of the room. The best moment of the night was lighting it up with Claypaky Sharpys and seeing all the faces in the room light up and be amazed."

"Seeing the smile on the faces as the couples exit the limos and enter the red carpet is tremendous," Mark Carver says, adding, "watching the dancing with pure joy and, of course, when each guest gets crowned Queen or King of the prom, there is definitely not a dry eye in the house."

"Occasionally, a project will come along that goes far beyond being a job and becomes something more akin to a passion," says Bandit Lites vice president Mike Golden. "It is our very sincere honor to be involved with the Night to Shine, and we are very thankful that Mark Carver calls on us to help be a part of such a special evening."

"It always a pleasure to work with Bandit Lites on this great event," finishes Luke Carver. "Bandit always has the fixtures prepped to the highest standards with quality and reliable gear. Special thanks to VP Mike Golden for donating and supplying the gear for the show, as well as to project manager Jimmy Hatten for his great prep work of the lighting rig."

"Mike and Jimmy could not have been kinder providing everything we needed to make the event a success," says Mark Carver. "The gear was well prepped and performed flawlessly. We really appreciate Bandit's partnership on this event for the past three years; this would not be possible without their help. The smiles on the guest faces speak it all!"

"Bandit is humbled and honored to participate in his event every year," says Bandit Lites chair Michael T. Strickland. "Tim Tebow's greatest accomplishment in life may just be the creation of this very special event. To provide this amazing night of fun, love, and excitement for these young people is what life is all about. To see the smiles on the faces of these young people is worth every moment of the endeavor. Thank you to Tim and his team for allowing us at Bandit to be a very small part of such a very large moment in these young people's lives."
