Xavity Audio Video Bridging (AVB) Arrives on Altera FPGAs

Audio Video Bridging (AVB) platform provider Lab X Technologies debuts an AVB networked video solution and expands the recently launched Xavity AVB connectivity to include support for Altera FPGAs.

Audio video bridging's confirmed momentum in professional audio applications expands, according to the company as interest in AVB networked video applications rapidly grows. The demanding bandwidth requirements in emerging networked video applications are ideally suited for FPGAs (Field-Programmable Gate Arrays) such as those from Altera.

"The most innovative audio video (AV) manufacturers recognize Altera as a leading FPGA developer for the broadcast and professional AV industries, and is our first choice for solutions targeting AVB in networked video applications," says Lee Minich, president of Lab X Technologies. "Our continuing collaboration with Altera will benefit the AV designers seeking to lead with AVB as the core media networking technology solution in their audio-visual applications."

"As Altera develops programmable solutions to support today's essential digital video and audio connectivity standards, we relish working with leader Lab X Technologies," said Umar Mughal, senior manager, broadcast business unit at Altera. "Our collaboration with Lab X on the Xavity family of silicon platforms brings AVB to its full promise with time-synchronized, low-latency streaming audio and video services through IEEE 802 networks."

Xavity is at the heart of all high bandwidth AVB products which have been shipping worldwide to date. Xavity is a growing family of silicon platforms for audio and video applications to benefit of AVB's media aware network infrastructure.

Xavity will be featured and demonstrated at the AVnu Alliance Pavilion in booth 7K190 at Integrated Systems Europe January 29-31 at the RAI convention center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where Lab X Technologies will be participating in AVnu Alliance education presentations throughout the show.
