Luminex Introduces New GigaCore High-Bandwidth Switch

Luminex has launched the GigaCore O26-I, a 40 Gigabit Ethernet switch dedicated to AV integration, installation, broadcast applications, and touring.

The company says the GigaCore O26-I 20S10 4S25 2S40 answers a longstanding request from the AV community for a high-bandwidth switch with the flexibility, protocol support, and ease of use. A first unit was showcased at the IBC show in Amsterdam, last September.

"With the GigaCore O26-I, we are responding to what our customers have been asking for," says Bart Swinnen, CEO of Luminex Network Intelligence. "The demand for a high-bandwidth, protocol-ready switch that is easy to configure and manage has been clear for some time. We are proud to deliver a solution that not only meets these expectations but does so with the reliability and user-friendliness that define Luminex."

The new switch is positioned as the high-bandwidth backbone for advanced AV infrastructures using star or mesh topologies. With 20 independent SFP+ ports (10 Gbps), four SFP28 ports (25Gbps), and two QSFP ports (40Gbps), it ensures connectivity and flexibility, removing limitations on bandwidth and port availability.

Configuration is simple and efficient. Each GigaCore can be managed through the intuitive built-in AV Web UI, while system-wide configuration and monitoring are streamlined with Araneo, Luminex's network management, planning, and monitoring software.

The GigaCore O26-I comes equipped with pre-defined QoS/DiffServ settings, optimized IGMP per VLAN group, and editable VLAN groups, making converged networking both easy and reliable. Users benefit from plug-and-play support for major AV protocols, including RAVENNA/AES67, Milan AVB, ST2110, IPMX, Dante, and many more, without complex adjustments. In addition, the automated redundancy protocol RLinkX ensures seamless operation of redundant links and ring topologies.

Reliability extends beyond connectivity. The GigaCore O26-I includes two built-in power supplies in a single 1U rack unit, eliminating the need for external redundancy solutions. PTPv2 Boundary clock support guarantees precise time synchronization across demanding AV applications, while Luminex's signature per-port RGB LEDs provide clear visual identification of VLAN groups at a glance.

With the GigaCore O26-I, Luminex sets a new benchmark for professional AV networking: high-performance switching with streamlined operation, built-in redundancy, and out-of-the-box protocol support.
