Harman Professional Learning Sessions Relief Effort Nominated Finalist for AV In Action Award

Harman Professional Solutions is honored to be nominated as a finalist for AV Magazine's 2020 AV In Action Award for its Learning Sessions series relief effort. The series has garnered attention for hiring AV and lighting professionals to share their expertise via live webinars and on-demand, free-of-charge videos, for other professionals looking to enhance their career skills while waiting for dark stages and projects to become active again.

The series has delivered more than 125 sessions focused on sharing audio, video, lighting, and control strategies and tips. It was launched in March 2020 as the live entertainment industry began to shut down as a result of the pandemic. As tours and projects were canceled, the people who make the audio and lighting magic happen, began to find themselves in need of supplemental income.

"When the industry was first impacted back in March, we knew that we needed to act quickly to find a way to help our friends and partners in entertainment," says Laura Lawrence, Harman professional director of Global Marketing. "The Learning Sessions series was an opportunity for us to offer an outreach of financial assistance as well as a platform for these experts to share their knowledge with others that could benefit from it."

The series has included presenters who have worked for artists such as Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Mary J. Blige, and Prince, with topics ranging from "Loudspeaker System Design for Airports" to "AV Challenges in Esports" to "Transitioning from Touring to Corporate Lighting." Harman Professional is scheduling new sessions through the remainder of 2020 and 2021 and is always looking for great presenters and attendees.

AV Magazine stated that the AV In Action Award was created to give "organizations the opportunity to tell their pandemic story by acknowledging a solution, project, company, or individual that has risen to the challenge throughout the virus outbreak and helped a variety of sectors to continue to function, or assisted those on the front line contain the spread of the virus."
