Charcoalblue Adds Steve Roberts to Staff Theatre design consultancy Charcoalblue has appointed stage design, lighting maestro, and theatre consultant Steve Roberts to its team. Roberts, who is currently secretary of the Society of Theatre Consultants, takes the role of senior stage engineer at Charcoalblue. "I'm very excited to be working with such a respected company," says Roberts. "Charcoalblue works on some of the UK's -- and the world's -- most innovative theatre buildings and I'm delighted to join the team and get started." With more than 25 years' experience, working in technical theatre in roles including chief electrician, lighting designer, project engineer, and senior theatre consultant, Roberts has led a variety of international projects including: The New Holland Concert Hall in St Petersburg, Koener Hall in Toronto, the National Concert Hall in Dublin, and the Dubai Opera House. Closer to home, he's worked on the Royal Festival Hall in London, the London Coliseum, and the Wales Millennium Centre. "We're thrilled to be harnessing the experience and knowledge of Steve Roberts," says Charcoalblue managing director, Andy Hayles. "We've long been an admirer of his work and believe his wealth of experience will be an asset to the company, particularly as we take on the next raft of exciting new projects." ,p> Before joining Charcoalblue, Roberts was senior technical consultant for Anne Minors Performance Consultants. More recently he led a commissioning team in the Middle East on behalf of Charcoalblue to complete a prestigious new 10-venue complex in the UAE.
