PLASA Focus Returns to Nashville This February

After a successful show in July 2012, the PLASA Focus event series is returning to Nashville, Tennessee on February 18 - 19, 2014, at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.

"We have decided to return to Nashville as the PLASA Focus event held there in 2012 was very well received well by both visitors and exhibitors, which is not surprising as the city is renowned for its vibrant music and entertainment scene. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the latest technology from the biggest brands, be provided with free access to a two-day education program, and network with industry colleagues." says Christopher Toulmin, head of PLASA Events.

Companies already signed up to exhibitor at the show include 4Wall Entertainment, DiGiCo, Bandit Lites, Altman Lighting, Barbizon, CAST, Chauvet Professional, Drape Kings, Elation, Martin Professional, Morpheus Lights, and TMB. Space is limited so companies interested in exhibiting are advised to move quickly to secure their spot.

Running alongside the show is the highly acclaimed PLASA Professional Development Program which offers two-days of free educational seminars and workshops. The program features world-class speakers and is an opportunity for visitors to further develop their industry knowledge, take part in discussions, and have their questions answered.

In "The Misadventures of Miss Adventure" Susan Rose will share her story of becoming a successful woman in the male dominated world of entertainment technology. Originally a performer, Rose has forged a successful career as a lighting designer, director, and programmer, and is currently on tour with Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band.

Award-winning lighting and scenery designer Seth Jackson will discuss his journey and take questions in "Designing for the Road and Other Places." Jackson has designed lighting and scenery for stars including Jason Mraz, Melissa Etheridge, Barry Manilow, and Carrie Underwood, and he recently designed the lighting for Cirque Musica's touring circus.

In "Audio Content Design 101" Michael Jefferson of JCConnect will present tools for cutting-edge audio content design. Jefferson will guide the audience through the use of basic tools within different audio editing applications, such as Adobe Audition, Sony Sound Forge Pro, and Pro Tools. He will also cover video editing applications, such as Sony Vegas Pro, Adobe Premiere, and Final Cut Pro, and their integration with audio.

In "Lights, Camera, Tracking!" Martin Kuhn, of Moodbox GmbH, will demonstrate BlackTrax, a revolutionary technology solution which takes production into the twenty-first century. By integrating lighting, audio, multimedia, and video with one comprehensive tracking solution, BlackTrax delivers precise 3D and 6D positioning in real time.

Representatives from the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) will discuss the crafts they represent, explain the benefits of becoming an IATSE member and take questions in a session entitled "IATSE - What's It All About?"

For further information on these sessions and to book a place, visitors should go to the PLASA Focus: Nashville URL listed below. Visitors need to register for their free ticket in order to sign up for the sessions they wish to attend -- seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional sessions will be added to the program in the coming weeks.
