John Hornby Skewes Receives NAMM Lifetime Achievement Award"On Thursday, November 12, 2015, at the Annual Music Industries Association Awards Ceremony held in London, UK, JHS & Co Ltd. chairman, John Hornby Skewes, was presented by the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) with a Lifetime Achievement Award. John Hornby Skewes & Co. Ltd. has been a member company of the USA trade Association, NAMM, since the 1970s. This honor follows a previous Lifetime Achievement Award made to John Skewes by the British Association, MIA, in 2005. This year JHS & Co. Ltd. achieved 50 years in business. The company was started in 1965 by John and Madge Skewes, and by hard work, perseverance, and business skills, they have built the family-owned company into the largest independent supplier of musical merchandise and pro audio equipment in the UK. As well as exclusively distributing in the UK and Eire many famous international makes of equipment, the company designs and manufactures its own brands including Vintage stringed instruments and Odyssey brass and woodwind instruments, with nearly 90 overseas appointed distributors in most major world markets. This latest award in JHS' Golden Jubilee year follows John Skewes being presented in March with the Music Teacher Magazine's Editor's Award in recognition of sterling service to the music education sector over the last 50 years.
